This product is working very well for my daughter. I tried several other things but she wasn't able to balance very well with them. This worked great.
This swim sweater is excellent. I got one for my 3 years old son with "Finding Nemo" theme. He loves it since he can practice swimming by himself. I am getting another one for my daughter with Disney princess theme.
my daughter is almost 3 years old and this product has helped her learn how to swim. If she was strong enough to hold her self she would be swimming alone right now
My daughter had the old style of swim sweater last year, but it got worn out so we needed a new one. I ordered this one and it is perfect with the exception of one thing, the sleeves. The sleeves make it very difficult to put on my child. I'm not sure why they changed the style from last year (putting it on was a breeze), but I hope they change it back. It's still the best swim tube out there - it really holds the kids up - I ended up cutting the sleeves off at the shoulder which does help to get it on and off easier.
When I tried to use a life jacket for my 1 1/2 year old daughter, all it did was keep her floating on her back. She couldn't sit up at all and did not enjoy the water. I love this tube. It allows my daughter to float around in the pool and keeps her head above the water. She's able to see everything that's going on and is even learning how to paddle toward things. Admittedly, it's a little big on her right now, however next year, I'm thinking it'll be an even bigger hit. By the way, saw the same one on a different stores website for more money and the shipping cost was atrocious. Thanks Wal-Mart!
I have tried another type of swimwear, the one where there are foam inserts all the way around but unless your child can kick that didn't work so I decided to try this and this works better, but my daughter is 18months and this says 2 years and by the time she turns 2 it will probably work great as it is intended so if you child can't kick or under 2 you still have to supervise but will get you through the summer.
I bought this for my 20 month old daughter. One thing we did not realize until we already had it at the pool is that you need a bicycle pump to inflate the tube. It is a real tube, not just something you can blow up by mouth, which is why I gave it an extra star for durability. I just wish that we had realized we needed the pump ahead of time. Someone else at the pool who had a condo next door inflated it for us, but my daughter screamed and cried when we tried to put it on her. We finally got it on, but she was so upset by then, she didn't even give it a chance. When we let her go for a moment to see how she would float, she actually tipped forward, face first into the water. I think it is supposed to be for ages 2+, so I can't really blame it on the product. But you must be vigilant for first-timers. It looks like it would be fun if she would relax in it, but I would say to perhaps save it for those who are at least age 2 and have a little more coordination.
