How annoying. I bought this product and I can't open it up to use as a wall stapler. That's what I really need it for anyways.
Received stapler and was excited from what I had read. I have arthritis in my hands so I was looking for an easier hand stapler, but one that was also durable and could staple more than a few pages. This one seemed like it should be durable, solid construction, metal; but my guess is something in the engineering is not quite perfected. I loaded it per the video with appropriate staples, stapled a couple of copies, and nothing - staple jam that due to engineering took an enormous amount of effort to release. Definately not able to staple the 30 sheets advertised
I received my stapler today. The magazine ejects with the slightest touch (causing no movement) to the back button and each time I staple the magazine also ejects. The only way I can manage to use it a few times in a row without having to pause to reinsert the magazine is to keep the "remove before use" sticker adhered to the device.
I've had this stapler about 8 months now and I loved how it performed, stapling many pages with ease, until the bottom plate dislodged. Now the staples don't close all the way leaving me with 2 options. Turn the stapled item over and use the stapler to pound the staple shut, or leave it partially open to get caught on other papers, clothing and unfortunately poke holes in my fingers. For the price and substantial feel of the stapler, I thought I would have a longer life. :(
During regular use this stapler jammed and I was physically unable to unjam it despite all my best efforts. I wasted 30 minutes trying to fix it then just threw it away. Extremely frustrating. It's awkward in design. Hard to tell the top from the bottom, difficult to load. Everything you thought you knew about staplers doesn't apply to this one. It's labeled as a "reduced effort" stapler and 50% easier to use but I think Swingline is trying to do way too much with this one. I didn't personally buy it, the receptionist at our office did, but needless to say I'll be buying a normal, standard stapler as a replacement.
I am a high school teacher and use my own money for purchases like this one. I wanted a quality stapler that would stand up to my use. I bought this stapler at the beginning of this school year. It was great at first. First time I needed to reload it, I had problems because the button didn't seems to want to release the slide out front. I did finally get it to work and I chalked it up to user error. However, the stapler began jamming and I found that I had this problem every time I wanted to open it, whether to clear a jam or to put new staples. I chose Swingline because I always trusted them to make a good solid product. Now I am very disappointed.
When I first received it, it worked great and with SO much ease! Then THAT very day, it jammed. It has jammed every day since then. Now, the thing won't even un-jam. This was not a cheap stapler and I definitely did not get what I paid for. I am now having to use this tiny stapler I got from a dollar store...at least that one works.
I can tell the design attempts to be clever by making it "easy to load" but the button on the back fell off shortly after buying it, and the unit jammed in the first week. Further, the sliding loader won't come out even with pressing the button or the metal hinge behind the button. I've done everything I can think of to try to get the tray to come out, but it's completely stuck. Incredibly frustrating.
This stapler was put into use on Dec 1, 2014. The release mechanism is permanently disengaged and the stapler doesn't work at all now. How discouraging that one can't even purchase a quality stapler these days. The first one of these staplers I bought lasted a few years. I have now had 2 replacements in the last 6 months that have proven to be a major disappointment!
Hi, I had my last Swingline stapler for over 30 years. This one has lasted about a month. On the first reload, I opened and saw that it would not take a full row of staples so I put about 1/2 a row, pressed it shut and went to staple something. It wouldn't staple, so I opened it back up to find that the staples I had loaded were not visible - so they must have been shoved way back in to the back of the stapler. I was able to load some more staples and use the stapler for about 10 minutes before it jammed again. It appears that the staples cannot clear the copper colored piece. I like fixing things so tried to figure out how to open it but couldn't. Extremely disappointed.
