Bought this a couple weeks ago as I am 40 years old and time to travel without a duffel bag. It was used for a 7 day trip (Just shorts and t-shirts needed). Rolled smoothly, fit nicely in the overhead compartment on the airplane, looks nice; seems to be constructed well, and well priced. I have had one of their backpacks for a few years now and I have been happy with that. I will definitely continue to look at Swiss Gear for any future luggage needs.
I have always liked Swiss Gear suitcases. They are so durable and easy to pack. I love my new blue/aqua suitcase. It is roomy and can be quickly spotted when it comes out on the baggage carousel at the airport. I know I am going to get a lot of good use from it.
Never ordered a suitcase before on line but took a chance! Much to my surprise, this bag is perfect for what I needed! Color is rich and it's well made! Amazing how much I can fit it in! Very satisfied!
This is my second purchase of the same bag. The only difference is that the other one was tan and this one is blue. The tan one was really put to the test and endured many guided tours where bags get traditionally rough treatment, and of course we all know what airline baggage treatment is like.
I originally bought two of these bags at a a department store about a year ago. My wife and I used them mostly for short trips, but also for longer trips. One of the bags turned out to be defective, so the one I received from Swissgear was a replacement. It is light enough to use as a carry on, and durable and roomy enough to check in and have the baggage handlers at the airport try to destroy it! It rolls easily and is very well designed for the traveler. My hope is that when this bag finally wears out, and that will be a long time, it will still be available because I would buy another in a heartbeat!
I used it one time and one of the wheels broke but they replaced the Luggage with no questions asked. I will have to be more careful with this one because I believe it is still the same piece of luggage.
The actual measurements 30.9 x 18.9 x 13 " makes it a check-in vs a carry-on by 3" and that is without expandable capacity inflations. The Jet Trains MAY allow these bags but I hear they are VERY STRICT.
After much research into carry-on, four-wheel-spinner luggage, I am happy I decided on the SWISSGEAR 6283. I have other SWISSGEAR bags which have endured years of use, and this suitcase was relatively cheap compared to comparable competition. My only caveat is that the extendable handle feels loose and weak.
I haven't used this yet but it is very nice and sturdy. One thing I was disappointed with is that the medium suitcase which I already had does not nest inside the large suitcase.
I am very disappointed with my purchase. The wheels do not track well, causing the bag to drift in various directions when trying to walk through the airport - VERY FRUSTRATING. The bag has a lot of room, and if you don't mind tipping the bag onto the two back wheels and dragging it behind you, it's adequate for multi-day travel. Based on an earlier version of a Swissgear spinner I owned, this newer version demonstrates the unintended consequences of design changes for increased profits. Overall, for the price I paid, I guess I got what I paid for. This is not the level of quality I expected from this company!
