Best Iron I've ever used!
Excellent iron! My old iron broke a little over a year ago and for MONTHS I kept going through irons and returning them. They were either useless out of the box or would break after only a few months (all decent irons as well, not cheapo's). I decided to give this one a try since it was the only brand I had not tried and I'm ELATED that I did! The steam it puts out is powerful. The water tank is large and quick to fill because of the large door. The weight and ergonomics are all right as they should be. It's incredibly easy to clean because of the calc collector and self-clean features. And most importantly, it's actually hot enough to iron fabrics that may be lightly damp without taking ages.
I didn't know it was possible to love a steam iron, but I absolutely love this iron! It makes a boring chore much faster and easier than ever! Love the features such as the "calc collector" to keep the iron working for years to come! The Durilium sole plate just glides effortlessly over fabric and the unit produces tons of steam! This iron is very sturdy in construction and comfortable to use. I've never owned a T-fal iron before but I'm sure glad I purchased this one! Keep up the good work T-fal! Quality product all the way!
The instructions state that you should use the steam setting on something that you don't really care about because there might be residue from the manufacturing process that could leave a stain. The iron had some residue all right, but it was in the form of materials that burned - this set off the fire alarm in the house and was a rude awakening for everyone in the household at a very early hour. The sprayer on the front dribbles all the time, this isn't a huge problem - but you may have to wipe up your floor after ironing. Don't use this iron in a carpeted area unless you put down a drop cloth. The iron is fine for my use, so no major complaints, just small pains.
My iron died recently. I am a serious quilter, I need a good iron. I picked one up at the local store. It is the brand I have always used with great success. It was a joke. So I read reviews, asked fellow seamstresses and scoured the stores. After returning two, I went online. T-fal had gotten the best reviews from quilters so I ordered a Powerglide. I am very pleased with this iron. But..... There are several design flaws that should be addressed. As many have mentioned, the lid to the water tank is hard to open and will probably soon break. It is very hard to see the fill line on the side because it is black on black. If they fix these problems, this will be the perfect iron!!!
The lid to the water refill will not stay shut, I have finally resorted to taping it shut with a bandaid (can loosen and retape easily).
This is my 3rd T-fal steam iron. At first it seemed to be the best of the 3, but the water tank latch broke. I put some tiny pieces of velcro on it, but they can't withstand the conditions. The good? The iron heats quickly and seams are well pressed with it. The bad? Broken latch and leaking as a result. I used to send my friends to this brand. Not now. It is easy to use, when brand new, it worked well. Poor design and quality that this latch breaks so easily and so soon causing the water leaks.
I sew, therefore I need a reliable iron. I was initially excited to get this iron, thinking it would speed up my projects. It worked fine on the first trial use...now the burst of steam no longer works. All I get is a spray of water no matter what setting it's on. Very disappointing.
Leaked through spray hole from day 1. Usually leaks while ironing when move it quickly. Steam lid broke due to poorly made latch. Couldn't use it with lid open. Taped it with Gorilla tape and still leaks worse with steam pressure. Initially had a problem with hitting spray button by accident but I've corrected that. Would barely hit it and it would spray. It's a shame because it does iron well when not leaking everywhere. I iron my work clothes everyday and get frustrated daily
Fill spout is defective. It constantly flips open.
