[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] i have a two year old lenovo yoga laptop. Shouldnt be getting so hot already..right? Wrong!! all laptops get hot after youve used them for awhile in my esperience! This targus chill pad is the ideal solution!! im so happy with it! Its the exact size of my laptop so its almost seamless with it. Its also really thin and light. It fits in my small laptop bag right next to my computer without taking up much space...i cant believe what an easy fix this is. The chill mat has two fans that keep my laptop nice and cool all the time. it plugs right into my laptop usb port with the included cord. No muss no fuss..it just keeps my laptop perfectly cooled. I also like that its metal top keeps me protected from electromagnetic energy from my laptop. i dont like to use it directly on my lap without protection. I couldnt be happier with this chill mat!
Worth the money - I would purchase again because it has been keeping my dell laptop cooler / before getting the chill mat my laptop would seem to be on the verge of overheating - it would get hot then the laptop fan would kick on but would not seem to reduce the temperature enough - which caused the laptop fan to run constantly which is more annoying than the chil mat fans.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use a laptop at home and at work. I live in Sacramento where the weather gets pretty hot and is regularly over 100 degrees. At work I am in a shop exposed to the elements, so the laptop can get really hot. I also do video conferencing as well. At home, I play games on my laptop, which tends to really heat up my laptop. The fan plugs into one of my regular USB ports and turns itself on automatically. To turn off, you just unplug it. The noise level of the fan is comparable with my laptop. When either fan is on, my measly speakers are hard to hear. When the chill mat is on, my laptop fan turns itself off after a short time of cooling. So it really works and I don't have to deal with all the noise of two fans. The area around my track pad is also pretty warm normally but with the chill mat, I don't have that issue. There is a significant temp difference, which has got to be good for the longevity of my laptop. The mat is super lightweight but I don't think would be durable for tons of travel in a back pack. The thickness/hieght of the mat under my laptop makes it about as tall as my laptops were by themselves in the old days when laptops weren't sleek like they are now. So I don't really notice any issues with typing and comfort due to the increased rise in height.

But, as I have been using the Chill Mat I have seen how great the fans work and I am not worried about it anymore. My laptop stays cool and I can work with no worries. Simple to attach the cord (that comes with it) to each the computer and the cool mat.

It helps my computer stay cool. Set up is simple, I just plug the usb cord on my laptop and it works by itself. It works quietly for the most part. It not only worked great with his laptop, it kept it cool because of the dual fans on it. Mine only has a single fan. This is a great product and works fantastically! Highly recommend!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The chillmat is worth the money IMO even if it only keeps my laptop a couple degrees cooler. Every degree counts when using a gaming laptop, and hopefully this will give it a longer life.My laptop seems to be running a bit faster, but is still pretty warm to the touch. I also like that it runs via USB. I love how light weight this is. I can literally take it anywhere.
The 2023 Apple MacBook only has Thunderbolt 4 ports (USB-C). You will have to buy an adapter or another power cable to use this cooling pad. Targus indicates the laptop connection end of the pad's power cable is USB-A, but they're too lazy to tell you the cable connection to the pad is Mini-B. One needs to know that if they're going to locate a power cable which will work with their Apple laptop. And don't bother consulting Targus customer support. They asked me to take a photo of the power cable they sell so they could figure out the issue. Then they told me only to use the cable which comes with the pad. Then they made excuses for not providing a cable which will connect to current Apple laptops.
I just bought the chill mat tonight...severely overpaid at Wal-Mart, but due to the semi-permanent burn mark on my thigh, I didn't have time to wait for shipping. Anyway, I actually came to the site to troubleshoot it because I wasn't hearing the fan. Turns out is just THAT quiet! My laptop fan drowns it out! Comfy on my lap without the pesky sensation of burning flesh, so at this point I'm a fan!
I bought 2 Targus chill products and an extended warranty. I got nothing. I got 2 products that failed shortly after I received them and a warranty that was never fulfilled.
