This is a digital kitchen scale, NOT what appears to be a bathroom scale that is pictured. It is approximately 8 3/4" X 5 7/8" X 3/4" in size. It comes with 3 AAA batteries, which are required for its operation. The red 0.8" display shows weights in 1/8 oz. or 1 g. increments. (Testing seems to indicate that when weighing in grams, the minimum weight is 4 grams--approximately 1/8 oz--and that a gram is skipped at times, i.e., it may go from 10 to 12 grams and not display 11 grams.) The tare function works as expected. That is, if a container is placed on the scale before turning it on, the weight of the container will not be included in the displayed weight, or touching the proximity-sensitive ON/OFF/TARE "button" after the scale is turned on will cause whatever is on the scale at the time to not be included in the displayed weight. (Removing something after a tare will cause the displayed weight to be reduced and it may even go negative, depending on whether or not something has been added after the tare.) This scale appears to be a good value for the price along with free shipping to local Walmarts and FedEx offices.
