This is a great detector for the beginner and also for the advanced treasure hunter. It's easy to learn and carries a 5 year warranty. The Delta is durable and well made and the battery life on this detector is excellent. After reading several reviews I thought the Delta was the best choice.
They come out with 3 editions of this detector.1st edition just has the 1/8" headphone plug and the push-in coil connector cable.2nd edition has both the 1/8" and 1/4" and the push-in coil connector cable.3rd edition has just the 1/4" headphone jack and the screw-on coil connector plug and it's the one I own.The reason for the 3 editions was that the first 2 had interference trouble so they made the coil connector cable heavier, shielded it better and made the female screw connector to eliminate any outside interference such as electrical lines, electric fences, etc. From the reviews I think this is the first edition since one of the recent reviews said his only had the 1/8" headphone plug.
I have pretty much experience, especially with many OTHER brands of detectors, including top brands, like Whites, Fisher 1266, Tesoro, Garrett, etc. I was frustrated because none quite were my ideal detector. It has been a long time, and I've gone through lots of detectors, but this one, and I'm sure all of the Teknetics brand models are the BEST for the money, and better than so many except a rare few that cost much more. The fully "Static" pinpoint mode is what I really like, combined with the 4 tone id's. It sounds louder or softer, plus higher or lower based on your pinpointing motion, which really gives you confindence pinpointing, like a charm! This is really intuitive and totally similar technology to my friends $1500.00 Minelab. This Teknetics company has just recently come out with a whole new line, and they are very light, very intuitive, practical, do not give false signals, and I'm just in heaven with this particular one. It's all that I would design a detector to be if I could have done it myself: The display is large, sleek, only takes ONE 9 volt battery, like the best detectors (Tesoro, for example). Do some reading on the design/engineer team and you'll see what I'm talking about. Teknetics is now my favorite of all. Shop around, not just here, to get the best price.
Good detector with plenty of features and gets good depth.
It detects all metal. I used it twice. In both cases it gave aluminum and steel a high detection number, which made me think it was a more valuable metal, like gold. It was accurate in identifying quarters and pennies. I think unless you dig it up, you really don't know what you have. I found it fun to dig up anything. It does jump around in the numbers that help identify the metal value, and description of the item. So far I find it very accurate and worth the price.
Very good detector for the price. Vdi screen is very nice.
This unit seems like an ok starter unit. It has good depth finding targets. I am not very happy with the depth indicator though as it is not accurate except sometimes when using the pinpointer. Also the unit does not have a 1/4" jack as stated on the box, only a 1/8". Battery life is less than half the amount of time they state.
This detector would go off all the time. It sounded in mid air even. Then, on the Iron setting the screen would freeze. Nice to see it was made in the USA, but it didn't work right. Had to return it.
