Bought this aquarium for my betta fish about a week ago. So far, I am very pleased. The set-up was easy, although it did not come with a heater and conditioner as the other review indicated. I purchased the Elite 25watt heater and just hung it over the side of the bowl and it is working great. Water is a toasty 78 degrees, just the way bettas like it. I chose this particular one because I thought it would be nice to have a waterfall feature and aquarium all-in-one, and it has not disappointed. The pump is fairly quiet as well. One piece of advice that I would offer to anyone who wants to use this aquarium for a betta is that the waterfall is quite strong and makes a current in the water that can push your betta around a bit. (Bettas typically do not like fast moving water by the way). Just make sure not to have sharp edged decorations in your tank as the current will push the betta into them and damage his fins, which can lead to disease. I have an artificial plant and 1 VERY small decoration on the bottom that I have placed out of the direct path of the waterfall. Hope this review helps!

Leaked!!

We used for small tetras. They had a hard time with the fast flow as well, until we put some plants in to soften the blow of the waterfall. It ran so fast, water splashed out of the tank. We were losing 1-1.5 inches of water each night. And had water everywhere. It was enough that we covered with a dish towel at night- it would be completely damp by morning and we'd still have water around the edges. Looked georgeous, I was sad to throw it in the trash.

This tank looked great, was running fine, untill I happened to look at it and noticed a ton of water coming from it. Read reviews elsewhere, and many people have had the same issue. Glad I noticed at night and not in the morning or else it would have ruined the bookcase and everything in it. Do NOT buy!!!!

Messy!

Water splashes out, no matter what the level. While I love the sound of falling water, this flow is too much for my Betta. I put a tiny fish house it in so he can have a calm place to rest inside. Looks beautiful but not practical and very very messy. Be sure to put a towel or something under the base as it will splash all over your table and down the sides of the bowl. Also, does not filter water very well. I do NOT recommend this product. Very poor design.

Pretty, but not good for my fish

I was really exited when I bought this. The bowl is really nice, but the black plastic was really thin and cheep. You can't control the water flow and the water comes out too fast and splashes out of the bowl. Also the water circulates through the bowl and it doesn't get filtered, and because of the circulating water my beta couldn't stay on the bottom of the tank, he could only hang out in one area near the filter where the water didn't move too much. I would not recommend this tank for anyone until they slow the water flow down or make it adjustable. It was a very pretty tank and looked beautiful when it was set up, just not practical.

All of the negative reviews are spot on. Purchased this in-store for a carnival-won goldfish who is still alive and swimming :). Due to a slight lean in my house the place we had it caused a slow leak out of the filter holder and ruined the flooring and wall before I discovered it. The filter/fountain has to be just right for it to not leak. Forget the filter, we took ours out to avoid worse leaking. I just have to do a complete water change every week. Out of the dozen or so LED lights that started out beautiful, I just looked at 2 are lit. This was bought 6 months ago and the bulbs have not lasted at all! I don't think the lid is water proof. If the water is not at a certain level it is very loud but too high and you get lots of splatter. This has so much potential of being a great little tank for a child but it just doesn't perform.

Beautiful but Poor Quality

Pros Good size, built in everything, comes as a complete kit including conditioner and heater. Cons I'm on my third bowl. First two were DOA. Pumps did not work. The third, lasted for two months. Several problems occurred during those two months. Here are a few, loud but pretty waterfall type filter system. You have to keep the bowl full to keep the waterfall from being too loud, there is no hood so you will run a high risk of your fish jumping out by doing this. Second, if your water line is too high it will create back pressure and the water would filter right out of the tank. (Almost destroyed an iPhone) you lose at least 25% of the entire water mass of the tank this way. Also, if the filter is not at just the right, most perfect angle, you will also get back pressure and have a table/counter full of water. I dealt with these issues as they came and thought the tank was still useable/tolerable. Also, if the pump is not cleaned at least once a week it also creates back pressure and dumps the tank water everywhere. I figured out the correct angle to set the filter and never kept the tank all the way full. I would rarely get back pressure and get water on my counter. However, I live in Olympia and I just lost power for two days due to snow. In those two days my apartment lost heat. Thus, the tank glass/globe became cold. The tank literally cracked and split from the cold weather. It was no colder than 30 degrees at any given point. It cracked before the power came back on so it was not a rapid change in temperature that cracked it. It doesn't look or feel like it, but, it's very poorly made especially if it cracks when it gets cold. I had buyer's remorse instantly. I would steer clear of this product. The design is so neat. I'm sad that it was so poorly made. Ultimately, too many issues to buy another one. I would not have one of these again even if it was free.
