This food has a very low density. It is similar in a way to Rice Krispies. You can easily crush a piece between your thumb and forefinger. As a result of being low in density, it comes in an enormous container! If you're picturing the size as being similar to a gallon of ice cream, be prepared! The container is 11" in diameter and 9" high. But all that aside, my fish (koi, goldfish, shubunkins from babies to 10") love it. There is a virtual feeding frenzy when I throw it in the water. Now probably because it has such a low density, the fish seem to be able to chew it down quickly and come back for more, and come back for more, and come back for more! Even the very small fish seem to be able to chew it down as long as they can fit a stick in their mouth. Now this compares with the previous food I was using which was more of a hard pellet. The big fish would chow down on that too but once they had a mouthful, they would just hang around chewing away at the pellets trying to work them down. With the pellets being more of a round shape, the very smallest fish could not get them in their mouths so I would feed flakes to them. This arrangement actually worked fairly well. I would feed the pellets first. All the big fish would settle down to chew on their pellets and then I would throw in some flakes and all the small fish would gather round and chow down on the flakes. With the Tetra pond sticks, it's every fish for himself since they all eat the sticks. So based on how the fish react to these I would give them two thumbs up. I can't speak to the nutritional value but the fish seem to be doing okay since I started feeding this to them several weeks ago.
i waited long to review this...my fish like it! they go crazy for it. i like how light airy the pellets feel no leftovers on bottum of small garden ponds but what is lefted over stays on top of pond... my fish grew alot to being feed this. i will definitely keep buying. thanks

I usually shopped at another site. Curiosity, I looked for my food for my koia fish. Saved much more than I expected.
I've been using Tetra Pond Sticks for over 20 years for my Koi. It's fun to throw their meal in and watch them all rush to eat. It floats for a long time without getting soggy. The fish seem to like it and they have thrived on it for all these years. I bought Pond Sticks in all sizes and it's always a good buy. I'd recommend it for anyone who has a fish pond or even fish in a tank.
