The awesome Tom Tom Experience

I have come to not only love but trully depend on my Tom Tom. I travel for a living and am constantly in new states and cities. I can't tell you how comforting it is ot know that I don't have to worry about finding my hotel or my account. With all the things that fill an average business day, having that portiion taken off of my shoulders is awesome. I've down loaded all the Starbuck locations and can quickly find 20 resturants near my hotel. It's a very helpful business tool.

With a zero sense of direction I used to have to have a friend or family member drive me to new places that I needed to go out of apprehension due to fear of getting lost. NO MORE! With this nifty piece of driving godliness, I can hop in the car with confidence! Whether it's around town, where I use it most, or on a road trip, I no longer fear the unknown roads! A beautiful HUGE screen, intuitive controls, Blue-tooth capability, FM Transmitter and spoken street names make this the best value for it's price, and I did a lot of research before this investment in my sanity. For those of you out there like me that may sometimes find yourself staying home rather then braving the unknown parts of your city due to a real fear of getting lost, this is the all-in-one solution for you at a very affordable price. This mid-tier GPS means most of the important bells and whistles that you actually will use on a regular basis without the painfully high prices some other models/brands employ. FREE at last! Thank you TomTom, free at last! ;)

Tried a Garmin 1st, switched to TomTom. Mapshare is great. When you first get your TomTom, hook it to your computer and update it and also join Mapshare community.

I now work for a cable company and it has saved me so much time. I am in my truck about half the day and it serves so many purposes. - It holds all my music since it is a company truck an I can not add my own equipment. The truck has an AM/FM radio so I can still jam out while on the road with use of the FM transmitter. - The BlueTooth is GREAT so now I can take calls from the office and not have to worry about getting pulled over for being on my cell phone! (Make sure your cellphone is compatible for best use) - Appose to my old GPS the entire US is loaded, my prior one could only hold a few states, now cross country trips are as easy as ever! If you travel a lot or don't like bulky maps then this is the GPS for you!

The Tom-Tom is an excellent product not only does it get you to where you want to go, but it features are fantastic. You have blue tooth for you cell phone, and you can update your maps just plug it in your computer and with a few clicks its done. We wanted a garman but you can only update your maps once a year and you have to buy a cd to do this, about 80.00. With the tom-tom its free on line you can update any time your ready.

What a great product. The TomTom has soooo many more features than the competition, blows Garmin out of the water. Love the Bluetooth function and it works great with my Verizon service. I am buying the exact same model for my wife.

I love TomTom! This device is great. It has TTS, extensive POIs and amazing features such as Map Share. The mapping is very accurate and the unit is slim with a large screen and amazing graphics. Definitely a great gift idea for last minute shoppers.

This TomTom is packed with features and is really easy to use. I have found it to be more accurate than my friends GPS units of other makes. I really enjoy the custom features that really personalize your GPS. If there was anything I could change, that would be the ability to work with more types of cell phones for the hands free features and items like traffic that download from your phone.

I've used a Magellan 2200t previously and it worked fairly well. There were a couple of things about it that irked me, so I did a lot of research before buying the TT720. They all have their quirks and I don't think any of these GPS devices gets everything right. The Magellan made some of the more common tasks easier to access than the TT720 does, but the TomTom 720 seems to do a better job with most tasks, especially with getting you to where you want to go. The TT is much quicker in complex city and highway driving to alert you as to what lanes to expect in time to change lanes: "Stay left, then stay left again" whereas the Magellan usually just gave the first direction: "Stay left," but by the time it said the second direction, you were already past the turn. The TT also seems to give less illogical directions and very few U-turn directions. The TT usually gives both the name and the number of the street when both exist for the same road, which is useful since some streets are only marked with one of them, which can be confusing if you are not familiar with the location. The TT recalculates routes more quickly if you happen to make a wrong turn or if you choose to take a different street than the one it originally laid out for you. The TT is more likely to have a slightly wrong address or no address for a specific place, but it seems to take you to the right location anyway. You can submit the correction through Mapshare when you hook it up to your computer. One thing I hate about both devices is that you must know the city name or zip code in order to get directions. This is extremely frustrating when you are traveling in unfamiliar places & don't know names or zip codes of every little town. The TT720 is much more customizable than the Magellan. The TT720 allows you to customize more fully which roads to take/avoid, how to display some items, to add or correct POIs. It has a customizable shortcut menu, but it will only allow you to put certain functions on it, most of which are not the ones I use most often. While the TT display can be customized, which is very nice, one stupid thing about the display is that it always keeps the latitude & longitude numbers on the display & I can't seem to get rid of them. I can think of much more useful pieces of information to have visible than the latitude and longitude! I've used the Mapshare function and found it very helpful. The main frustration with that is that there is no entry to correct when the map has the wrong address for a POI or a place. You can touch the place on the map to mark where it should be, but you can't correct the text address. But, other than that little item, Mapshare is very helpful. The TOMTOMHOME software that you install on your computer is a little confusing to set up, but once you figure it out, it works pretty well and lets you easily transfer info back & forth between the computer and the device -- routes, preferences, updates, corrections, etc. Also the software updates automatically when you start it up. The software is MUCH better than the Magellan's. My main beef with the TT is that the menus are not the most conveniently organized to find commonly used tasks. They allow you to customize a lot of things, which is very helpful, but you still have to navigate a couple of layers down in the menus to get to some of the common functions. Also, it keeps taking you all the way out to the main menu after you make a selection, instead of just back to the previous menu. This can be annoying. In order to get to the main menu screen or some of the other functions (such as volume control or the listing of streets for the rest of the route beyond the next turn), you have to remember where to touch the screen because there is no button to show you where. Once I figured out that you could touch a certain place and it would bring up the info, it was easy to use. But, it takes a few times to start remembering where to touch to get to what info. As for the traffic reports, I don't drive enough to warrant the cost, but it would be nice to have. I also don't plan to use the phone, photo display or music player functions - I have dedicated gadgets that do those better. So, I don't really care how well they work on the GPS. I have used the FM transmitter and it worked fine, just have to change the station if you enter an area that uses the frequency you programmed in. It's a little tricky to program the FM transmitter -- you have to make sure a few settings in different menus are set properly. All in all, in spite of the little quirks, I like the TT720 pretty well. In fact, I bought a second one for my child.

I like my Tom Tom GPS 720. The map is more up dated than the others I have tried out. It is fast and accurate most of the time. The problem I found with the system is that the bluetooth is only compatible with certain phones and wireless company. ex. AT&T and two others. I would have love to use the bluetooth for the traffic and weather but, I cannot unless I switch wireless company. I really was upset and disappointed about this. I guess I wont use the bluetooth. I am a woman and travel long distance to see my sons, and this feature would have been very helpful. The price should be lower because of this inconvenience. The retailers should let consumers aware that the bluetooth only works with certain phones and list them.
