I bought this as a gift for my husband. He had done some research comparing the TomTom to other portable GPS units in roughly the same price range and really liked this one the best for the money. I really liked that the package I bought contained the home charger and leather carrying case. These extras really impressed him as well. Definitely glad I made this purchase.
I used the tom-tom 3 or 4 days after picking it up (that site to store feature is terrific). I am part of an organization that delivered Christmas toys and meals to needy families in my town and with the help of tom-tom, I got alot more deliveries made than if I had not had it. If a techno-phobe like me can get it set up without needing a ton of directions or a call to tech support - anyone can!
I purchased the TomTom One 3rd Edition expecting to have to digest a manual of operating instructions. Much to my surprise it is very user friendly and within a minimum amount of time I have been using it to navigate to unfamiliar locations. The ordering process via Walmart was very thorough and timely.
The Tom Tom One 3rd Edition is one of the smaller GPS so it looks nicer in the windshield. It gives precise directions and gives alternate routes if you go off course. Provides information in a timely manner. Makes it impossible to go the wrong way because it repeats the directions until it has been made. Very, very helpful.
I love this unit. Two days after I got it I went to a Christmas program at a church in another town, and it gave me directions to the church with no problems. When we were leaving the church the police directing traffic sent me down a road I have never been on, and I turned on the GPS and touched the screen to "navigate home" and it navigated me through town with no problem. You can choose either a mans or womans voice for the spoken directions, and can change the volume so it is easy to understand. I would like it to speak the names of the roads, but I can deal with it not doing so. I updated the map using the Latest Map Guarantee, and it updated the new highway behind my house, so all is good. The screen is bright, the volume is good, and the window mount is powerful. There are some with more features, but for the money I couldn't be happier.
I bought two of these tom tom gps systems for both of my children, one 19 and one 21. I don't believe I have ever seen anything so easy to use right out of the box. My children tried to go get lost to see how this gps system worked. Well, they never got lost, because there was no were they went that this gps didn't know where they were and how to get home. Yesturday I truely got lost myself (which hasn't happened in a long time.) I never bought me a gps system. What should have been a ten minute ride home and one miss turn and I was somewhere I had never been before. One hour and a half later I made it home. I just ordered my own gps. I will never be lost again!!!!!
My boyfriend bought me a Tom Tom for Christmas last year. My best friends took us up to Canada for the 4th of July and we used my Tom Tom. They loved it so this year I purchased one for them. Right now they are on there way to Florida for Christmas and they are using their new Tom Tom. I would recommend this product to everyone who travels a lot and does not want to be bothered using a map. This is a great product.
I purchased my Tom Tom One 3rd Edition a week ago. It is amazing all the travel information it contains. Now I feel very confident traveling to large cities. TTO3rd puts in your hands a national telephone back, a huge road atlas, emergency information, and easy to set up and follow directions on how to reach your destination. I will be purchasing another for my daughter going off to college.
The TomTom quick start guide, the only instructions supplied in the package, were sufficient for me to figure out how to operate the device right out of the box. I tried downloading the full manual but as could be expected on Christmas evening, the website was swamped and not answering. The unit is bright enough to read in bright sunlight and the volume for the prompting voice is loud enough to be heard over the road noise in my ancient station wagon. All in all, a nice unit. I travel for a living and expect to get a lot of use from it.
THIS IS A VERY GOOD PRODUCT . FUN TO USE.. ONLY ONE THING WRONG.. IT IS NOT EASY TO PROGRAM WITHOUT A INSTRUCTION BOOK..YOU HAVE TO GO ONLINE TO READ THE MANUAL, BUT YOU CANT DO ANYTHING WITH IT , WHILE CONNECTED TO THE COMPUTER.. IF YOU HAVE NEVER OWNED A GPS .. YOU ARE LOST TRYING TO PROGRAM IT TO GO FROM POINT A TO POINT B.. UNLESS YOU HAVE AN ADDRESS TO GO TO .. AND IT DOESNT RECOGNIZE SOME OF THE INFO YOU TYPE IN , UNLESS IT IS IN ITS LIST PREPROGRAMED.. MAINLY FOR BIG CITIES WITH LOTS OF STORES NOT SMALL TOWNS ,, IT DOES NOT HAVE SOME ROADS IN SMALL TOWNS.. BUT IT IS A GOOD STARTER GPS FOR THE MONEY...
