this tool is well made and just what I needed.
We broke a copper air pipe on a compressor and needed a smaller flare then most kits offered but the Wilmer 7-Pc. Double Flare Tool Set had the perfect size and was super easy to use. I had never done any type of flaring before but I had zero trouble operating the tool.
Bought this to do some brake line modifications. Follow the directions carefully and get good results!
Not a precision tool, very loosey goosey one must take extra care to insure all parts and pieces are aligned before attempting to create a flare and even then it can get out of shape, I only have 3/16 line so I can speak to the other sizes, but the 3/16 opening in the clamping bar is a bit small and deforms the tubing. The shoulders of the spreader tool had so much casting flash on them I had to file those flat before I could even try to make a flare. I am using steel tubing for brake line. After three attempts I achieved one decent flare. Practice with scrap line before doing one you have to depend on. I also had to polish the flare once it was done.
this flare kit is a joke the adapters break really easy ......metal is weak and the rods are only spot welded to the adapter which makes it very weak and you can not do it on steel line it will break i know i have been working on brake lines for 4 years and know how to properly flare brake lines using double flare and bubble flares this tool fails at both so avoid this 3 lb paper weight
Bought to make some flares, cone was loose and didn't work good at all
