The Toshiba Canvio Ready Portable External Hard Drive 1TB was just what I needed. It connected easily to my HP laptop with about a 12 inch cord that was included. My laptop recognized it and without any formating i copied files and suystem.
WHAT a huge relief to be able to back up and protect ALL of my files, thousands of movies, thousands of photos, thousands of record albums/ recordings in one place!! Super easy to use and it give me alot of peace knowing my whole electronic library is safe on this device!
Yep, it's a hard drive. Nothing wrong with it. Just a 5400 RPM drive, so it's pretty slow, but it gets the job done, and Toshiba drives tend to be pretty reliable in my experience. The fact that it cannot be converted to a SATA drive is somewhat disappointing, but it's meant to only be an external drive, so it wouldn't be fair to discount it on that aspect. Would reccomend.
I just plugged it in and it worked immediately, would definitely recommend !
I ordered this as well as a case to replace my previous external drive that I was carrying everywhere with me and using as a working drive. It turns out external drives should only be used for about 5 years and sparingly, as storage. I now carry files around with a memory stick. Lesson learned after I lost a boatload of photos and files.
Slim design, good packing and delivery was on time as well. Seema like a great product
