This version of the game is called Shut the Box. It is a very solid game unit of stained finish wood and green felt and comes complete with dice. Rubber "feet" are on the bottom to protect your table top. The object of the game is to get the lowest score for your round. There are numbers 1 through 10 on the board. If an 8 is rolled then the number can be shut off on the board or any numbers that add up to 8 such as a 6 and a 2 or a 5 and a 3. The round ends when a person rolls a number that cannot be taken off the board. If the person has an 11 and a 9 left then their score is 20. If that turns out to be the lowest score after everyone has taken their turn, then that person is the winner.

This is a great game to use for any level. And I found that it's a great tool for reviewing the combinations of numbers that will create the sum 10. My box has ten keys. Kids love it. It is a great "math center" tool!
I bought new dice right away because I don't like those tiny dice. This game is fun for the family and helps kids with their math. It also teaches a little strategy. Quality was good for the price.
Although the game seems to be durable, it is smaller than I expected it to be. The dice are extremely small and I will switch them out for larger ones.

Just received this product in the mail. I was very disappointed with packaging of the game. It arrived in a plain brown box with no game directions included. I guess this is okay if you already know how to play the game, but my family doesn't and I don't want to have to search for the game directions online whenever we want to play the game. I will be returning this item and purchasing another version of the game that includes the box and the directions!
The picture shows a lighter wood color, exactly like the originals from a few decades ago. The one I just received is of a darker wood. The flip up/down tabs looked extremely flimsy and work a bit differently from the original. Overall, as a Christmas gift, I am hoping that it will hold up to hours of play. I can not attach a photo as it is already wrapped for a gift.
I agree with the reviewer who is going to return the game she purchased. It comes in a plain brown box with no instructions and is up incredibly poor quality. Mine came broken in pieces. Yes it was an expensive but it's a piece of garbage and I certainly would not recommend anyone purchasing this
