I'd been researching PTFE-free non-stick cookware, since my old pans are coated with Teflon (which is supposedly carcinogenic). It seems there are only a few options, and this Tramontina set was by far the most economical. The first set arrived with a bent pot. Don't know if it was done in transit or a manufacturing defect, but sent those back and my new set arrived yesterday. I seasoned one of the pans and used this morning to cook scrambled eggs. It worked beautifully, and I set it aside afterwards and allowed it to cool before washing (per the instructions). When I returned to wash it, it was pretty easy to get the dried egg out with a soft kitchen brush. So, as of now, I am completely satisfied. However, I have read many reviews of Green Pans (with a similar non-toxic nonstick coating) sold on HSN. It looks like people who bought those pans were also satisfied initially, but complained a few months later that the pans were no longer non-stick for some reason. That's not to say this Tramontina set will have the same issue, but I will certainly be back to revise my review if that happens, so others will know. Long story short---great value and I hope they continue to perform so well!
I have owned my set for close to two years. I have not had any issues with quality. Although, I clean them by hand and do not use metal utencils. I love that they are "green" and Made in the USA. I have made plenty of food in my Tramontina Eco Set and I highly recommend it. I use the bamboo cutting board and utencils often. I believe that this product is great for students, single people, and people starting to cook. If they made more pots and pans to choose from in this set, I would buy them.
I've had these pots n pans for 6 months now and they have held up pretty good!!! If you keep metal spoons and metal spatulas and metal forks and spoons out of the pots n pans they will last a good long time and wash them by hand and not use a steel scrubber for washing them. I love these pots n pans, this was a great investment!!! They are really easy to clean and to cook in. I would recommend these pots n and pans to anyone. After all you are helping the environment with these!!!
i bought this set & started using it on Oct 08. I wasn't particularly looking for eco friendly cookware. i just needed cookware. I actually had a $40 set in my cart when i saw this set on clearance for $40, so i swapped for this set since it was originally $100. I figured it'd be more bang for my buck. I always use nonstick safe utensils, follow the instructions to handwash & do not use cooking spray, only oil. i forgot to season the set before i used it. ooops. i've heard that non stick cooking spray is really killer to eco friendly finish. i have been pleased with the set. a few weeks ago i boiled the pot dry while steaming veggies. after a lil scrubbing, it was as good as new.
I was looking for a set of new nonstick cookware and had heard of the brand name and own a few restaurant quality pieces so when I found this set so reasonably priced, I just had to take it home. It seemed to be a fairly heavy guage for the price but either it is poorly constructed or they simply had me fooled. Everything wants to stick and it doesn't want to wash clean easily. I guess you get what you pay for.
Used this product twice and the skillet started to peel. Food stuck to the pans terrible. I did everything by the book when first purchased. I was definitely disappointed. I have always used T-Fal but liked the looks of this set. I will never buy this product/brand again. I would stick with T-Fal or another brand.
This set look gorgeous but unfortunately this set of green cookware wilts and dies easily. Despite the claims that its nonstick coating is superior to the standard and more chemically intensive method it just does not perform. Even if you follow the instructions diligently, season the pans and use non-abrasive tools it will still fail with regular use in less than a month. The pans in the set wear worse than the pots. The last attempt at using the large pan lead to stuck potato bits and a nice soak for the pan to remove them. Oddly, food is easily removed after soaking. It's also worth mentioning that solid metal pan handles can lead to burns if gripped too close to the body of the cookware. Wait for something better if you desire to go green with your cookware. This set just isn't worth the cost.
This set is not worth anything... A month after I purchased the set, everything left a sticky residue on the pans and I washed them right after I cooked.... The pots, every time I wash them it leaves stains in all of them.... I bought this set when it was on clearance for $25 and it was not even worth that much, and $25 is cheap for a pot set.... So I don't recommend this product...
We too purchased the pots-n-pans when they went on sale because they described how their non stick surface would not peel off. Wrong. The smallest pan started peeling off 2 months after purchase. The larger pan is now starting to dull and flake. I'm not sure if the company would replace it with another but I wouldn't recommend these pots-n-pans. Sorry.
for all of you going green dont be taken by this "green" product, it will not last you a month before the coating starts to come off, just dont bother find another set to buy, you'll thank me!!!!!
