This past weekend was my first chance to try out this jacket combined with the UA Storm Coldgear pants. Temperatures ranged from 32-48 degrees and the jacket locked in the heat keeping me very warm even in extremely windy conditions. Lots of storage space in the pockets and the material is ultra quiet when moving. Scent control worked great, I had a buck come within 10 yards without even noticing me. I normally wear a large and the jacket allowed for a nice base layer hoodie. I'd recommend this product to anyone who wants max comfort and exceptional performance.
The rut jacket and pants are very comfortable and warm. UA is above the competition by far. The only thing is, if you want this for layering, buy a size bigger. The sizes are very true and accurate.
Recently purchased this jacket for cold weather (35 deg and under) and it is a must have. I wore this with a 4.0 base layer and was warm all day. The performance of this jacket is incredible, extremely quiet. The harness zipper is great being able to wear your harness under the jacket, maximizing range of motion. The best feature, however, is the built in spots for warmers above the kidneys. This feature should be in more gear as it is extremely effective!
I hunt in NE Wisconsin, where Fall temperatures can range from 60 degrees to 10 degrees. The first time I hunted with this jacket, it was about 50 degrees when I went out and about 35 when I came in. I wore a thin base layer underneath, and I was a little warm when I got to my stand. However, moisture was not a problem, and I was very comfortable sitting in my stand. I've also worn this jacket when it was 5 degrees outside. I wore a thermal base layer and a hoodie underneath. It was cold out, but I was comfortable for over three hours. In addition to the warmth, I love how quiet it is. The fabric and zippers are super quiet. There are pockets on the front that have tethers for equipment like grunt calls and rattle bags. Those pockets are huge, and are also a great place to keep a cell phone for quick access.
I enjoy all the UA Hunting and casual clothes I own. However, every hunting jacket you make sure have a hood with it. This coat is super warm and comfortable, but when I am in the treestand and the wind picks up or it starts to rain/snow, it would be nice to have a hood. Again great jacket, just add the hood and its great. Keep up the good work with the hunting items.
this is a great jacket.not many places offer these in my area and i was lucky enough to try one out before i purchased it.i was recommended by UA to go with a spread freak for warmth and i purchased it and sent it back. early season maybe but for those cold days in the stand this jacket is where it's at.use with minimal layering and you are good to go.the only thing that can make it better is if it had a hood. that's the only reason i gave it 4 stars and not 5.i highly recommend this jacket for cold weather hunting!!!
This truly a great jacket the draw string waist and cuffs are an awesome feature, I like the longer cut nothing worse than sitting in your stand and your back is exposed. One thing I didn't like was the mesh hand pockets, otherwise I would've given 5 stars. Maybe something to keep in mind for future designs
I'm usually a fan of UA products but not this jacket. You need to layer up under it since it lets wind in like crazy. And the material inside restricts how you layer. It really bunches up layering clothes and makes for an uncomfortable sit in the stand. The jacket is however very quiet and fit nice otherwise. I'm 6'6" and ordered an XL and was shocked that the sleeves were long enough. All in all it's a good jacket just not for windy cold days when you need layering.
Read alot of great things before I bought this jacket. The overall design is nice however it's not designed for the conditions advertised. I hunt in MI where it can get below zero during the season. However at 40 degrees I felt like I was freezing and I had Baselayers on! This jacket let's wind in like an open door. As much as I like UA I will not buy anymore gear until they can make a quality product that resists rain and wind. In summary if you want to impress other hunters with your fancy brand name gear, buy this. If you want to stay warm, buy something else.
I was very disappointed in performance of the suit. I was tree stand hunting temp was about 36 degrees with about light 5-10 mile an hour wind. Given the multiple layers I had on I did not feel like this exceed product specifications. That turned out to be not the case. I had to cut my hunt short felt like zero protection from cold I had layered under my UA Rut suit and wind and cold came through it like a screen door. For the money spent and product reviews I would have expected more from UA product. I had multiple layers including UA base layer, layer stret clothes and layer of fleece on top and my UA infrared rut suit. If I had to add more layers the suit would be way to constricting to bowhunt in. I will continue to buy UA base layer and golf apparel but cold gear outerwear really fell short.
