I have Muscular Dystrophy, and have been buying aids to get out of regular height furniture for the past 10 years. It works fine in any chair with arms, but, alot depends on the height of the chair, and if you have strength to get yourself up, from the height the lift gives you. I have one at the office, and it works fine in my office chair, but it had to be raised to it's maximum height. The only bad thing is that it tips you forward, and if you need to get your knees close to straight in order to stand up, then it is of no help.
Makes getting up from difficult couch much easier. Lift does tire oy 'sitter' after sitting on it for about half an hour.
The levers to raise and lower the seat are flimsily attached to the mechanism. At a light, they can fall off and it is difficult for the person using this seat to pick it up off the floor. The purpose of this seat is to assist in standing, but if the lever falls off, how an the seat be useful. This is a cheap version of a great idea.
Not comfortable for a large man. Moves on the chair when trying to position yourself.
very hard to sit in it.. and it smells like petroleum.. I will return it
I bought this for my 93 year old mother who has a hard time getting out of chairs because of strength in back and legs. I thought this would be perfect. I tried it on every chair! Each chair I tried it on was uncomfortable because it left her too far away from the back of the chair. You can't put a pillow there for support because the pillow would stop the lift. Once seated she couldn't get comfortable. Pointless if she had to struggle to move back. Certainly couldn't sit that way or she would have a strained sore back. Some chairs the cushion got in the way of lift preventing it from working. Nice expensive idea that just doesn't work. Again, we did have a lot of laughs trying her out on different chairs. I'm returning it. I sure hope that isn't going to be an issue.
