Works great with my climbing deer stand!
I am using two (2) of these. One is covering my trail camera off the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia, to protect it from the rain and snow. The second one is used by me while hunting. I have used the Allen before and its great.
I love mine! Needs another nut at the end with the one on there, it will keep the one from comming loose. Yes definitely get one.
My grandson loves it. Easy to use!
keeps me dry
I love it and it keeps me dry
Average quality. Compact, lightweight. Decent overall design. To hopefully increase the durability I installed two XL washers on each side of the plastic mounting hub and used lock nuts to hold them snug. The small plastic hub is also what you grip to screw the long mounting lag into the tree. This small plastic circle could be hard to grip and use in hardwood=simple fix score across the smooth plastic finish with a razor, the grip is 10x better. Long term durability of umbrella remains to be tested but could be very handy in foul weather
The plastic hub at the end of the screw that anchors the screw to the tree rotates when turning it into the tree making it impossible to screw it in or remove it. I replaced the hex nut with a nylon lock nut. Now the hub and screw turn together.
This product works well at protecting you from rain and other elements, but it's difficult to remove the rod from the tree once screwed in
I was excited to try out this umbrella for bow season! I finally took it out of its packaging last week, took it up the tree stand, and followed the instructions to install it. The very first thing that happened? --I was using the plastic knob on the end to screw the metal bolt into the tree. I got about half way, and the knob just started turning and turning without turning the bolt any further. It had stripped itself, and without much force. So I thought "grrr...this is NOT what I wanted," but the next time I went hunting I brought my vice grips. I used them to finish screwing the bolt into the tree, then I completed umbrella installation. I used the straps to tie it down to the tree as instructed and LOVED the setup! In fact, we had a light rain here in western KY that afternoon and I shot a decent 9-point buck while keeping dry under the umbrella! However, later that night it got windy and apparently the umbrella didn't like it, because when I returned, the plastic knob had broken in half, dislodging the umbrella from its mounting insert. Great idea; poor, cheap quality. Allen needs to invest more money in materials. If they built a better quality umbrella, I would happily pay $30 for it after this year.
