This is a fabulous blanket. The super light weight is perfect, especially for summer. It lays on the bed without buckling (if you know what I mean) or getting lumpy, the way other blankets do - another plus. I got the blue and the moss to see which one would work in my bedroom - they are both kin dof a dusty color, not bright, so either one would have worked, frankly. I chose the blue since it was cheaper (don't know why they are difference prices when the blanket is identical except for color). My only caution is that the QUEEN/KING is really large for a QUEEN bed - sides hang down pretty long so you have to tuck them under the matress - would be perfect for a KING though. Love the blanket. Wash it before using it to soften it. Lovely.
I've always enjoyed the warmth without weight of Vellux blankets & this one met my expectations fully, covering my queen-sized bed with adequate margins on all sides. I gave it a 4 instead of 5 on appearance because the color was not a good match to the online photo -- more of a blue-grey rather than the bright blue of the photo, but it is still an attractive color.
This blanket is just right - it provides warmth without a lot of weight or bulk. I've had Vellux blankets in the past and they always wash well; they come out of the dryer the same size as they went in. I would recommend these to anyone.
This is a very warm blanket. The queen/king size is quite large and it would be difficult for an elderly person to handle -- taking on and off the bed. If it can stay on the bed, no problem. The standard/double size is ideal as it is less bulky and easier to handle. Both are nice looking and well made, all sides/ends are hemmed. This blanket will get softer after washing. It is a good value for the money.
I found Vellux blankets in an old-timey catalog recently, but they cost a lot!! Curious, I searched online at Walmart, and they were really affordable here! If you don't know what these are, you really should go to a store where you can unzip the bag and get an idea of the feel and the weight. They are medium-lightweight velour blankets that seem like they almost have a lightweight foam center-- it's hard to describe. But they are soft, light, breathable, longlasting, and launder well. Hope Walmart carries these for a long time... I won't need replacements for years!
Have been looking for one for almost a year. Did not want the fleece blankets! Ordered this one in Plum for a King Size bed & it fits perfectly - very generous size - my mattress is extra thick. Sleep like a baby under it - light weight but warm. Price is very good for the quality!
just follow instructions, wash gentle and it will be great. it's warm and cozy and meets vellux standards. they've been my favorite blankets for years.
This Vellux blanket seems to be a very good buy. All sides are hemmed, and it certainly is large enough, according to sizing. I bought Queen/King for a queen-size bed and it is quite large. So far so good, as far as durability, although I've only had it long enough to put through the washer & dryer twice. Please note: the color "Moss Green" is not green. It is more of a muted, smoky grayish-color and is quite boring & blah. However, do not let that stop you, especially if you plan to cover this Vellux with a bedspread. Other than the bland color, I like this blanket a lot and would buy it again.
I got this for my toddler's bed now that she's graduated into a "big kid's bed". I wanted something warm but not too heavy or puffy since I didn't want it to become an obstacle for her. This is perfect and she loves it! It's soft after just one wash and the package indicates it'll get even softer. I pre-washed and dried it and it washed up very well. My only concern is that it's not really edged, just a folded hem which is double-stitched and one row of stitching about 3" long has come undone after the first wash. I'm sure it will hold up and I can always restitch it later but was slightly disappointed. Overall though, excellent blanket and value.
I bought a full sized moss green Vellux blanket to replace our old worn one. Like others have noted, there's a smell to the blanket that I don't remember our old one having. It smells like dirty dishwater to me. I washed it with the old blanket, and now both of them smell like that! I rewashed a few things I included in that load and the smell came out. I rewashed the new blanket, and the smell didn't come out. With this smell, I wouldn't recommend to others or repurchase.
