Despite the bad ratings on here I thought I would give this action cam a chance. Overall I was Impressed with this camera. The price is very affordable and its easy to use. I went SCUBA diving yesterday 6/27/2017 with this camera mounted on my BCD, (Buoyancy control device) for a 50 minute dive, at 46 feet deep and I had no issues at all. The video was 720p at 60 FPS. The Battery lasted 1 hour and 20 min, the camera comes with a lot of mounts... and one of the mounts makes it so you can use the GoPro line of accessories. I'm really happy with this camera.
This little camera is so cute. It enables you to video hands free. Has attachments for bicycle and forehead so you can just go and relive the view later!
My daughter wanted a camera to make videos. This was a good price and it seems to work, but can't hear the videos unless you download on your computer. So that was a let down. But otherwise seems to work fine.
I was a little nervous when I brought the camera home and read the reviews. I couldn't understand why some people thought it was great, and some thought it was awful. I charged it up and turned it on. First thing I always do with a new camera is check out the menu and settings. I went to the photo resolution menu. The default is set at 5MP. (That's why some people think it's a worse camera than a cell phone.) I changed it to 12 MP and the pictures turned out nice. You can also change some other settings, like white balance, and apply filters. I haven't had a chance to do that yet. It did lock up on me once. I believe this was because after I stopped filming my video, I didn't wait for the video to stop rendering before I tried to do something else. I reset it with a pin. The next time I waited, and it didn't lock up. SIL's Finepix a few weeks ago. As long as there is plenty of light, the pictures are nice. Attached is one underwater picture, and one above water.
It will capture videos that you otherwise wouldn't get if you didn't have a camera like this. The videos are clear and good, its great for the price. If you want to spend Hundreds more for other cameras you will definitely get better video quality. Overall its worth it as a starter camera.
Picked up this model of Vivitar Action cam from a nearby Walmart and used it on the lake. While the video quality was pretty good for the cost, it froze far too often and I missed several moments of family members wake-boarding and getting up on the water for the first time. Battery lasts anywhere between 20mins and a couple hours off a full charge and doesn't warn before dying. It froze frequently and force stopped videos during recording and always died very quickly even after a full charge. Was looking forward to having a good action cam with decent image quality for cheap, now I can't trust it to work and am returning it. Go with a more reliable brand in the action cam world. Vivitar missed the mark.
If I was buying this for quality I would not be happy. I have been out of camera for a while but back in the day, mid 90's, a 12 MP camera would be awesome. I realize that we are beyond that but I assumed the images would not be all grainy like a toy camera. It was cheap yes it will work if I am doing something greasy and want a picture of it. Video, it only accepts up to a 32 GB SD card and has not internal memory. For a video on this to be good that isn;t much video. This is not a quality camera/video camera even for it;s price. For me it will do as I planned to use it in a dirty environment and it will keep my next better one or my phone form getting dirty. If you have higher plans for this you might want to look elsewhere, like Kodak
Used twice and now wont charge
Received this as a birthday gift and took it on a four day whitewater rafting trip on the Rogue River. After turning it on and testing it on the boat ramp it froze and wouldn't record or even turn off. We missed out on video for our whole trip, and the only way to reset the camera was to wait for the battery to die hours later. Taking it back to the store today and spending the extra $$$ for a GoPro setup.
add says remote included but it is not.
