Vizio already has a good reputation for building basic flat panel TVs that work well. This model takes Vizio a step forward in design with a sleek look and interface that's noticeably different from anything else in this size and price range. The disappearing touch controls on the front of the TV are easier to use than the buttons usually found on the side of flat panel TVs (although, as with many touch panels, they can be a little less responsive than an actual button) - and with a small TV like this, its more likely you'll be close enough to the screen to actually use the controls on the set instead of the remote. The screen is covered with a solid glass - great for use & easy clean-up in a kitchen - not so great if you're using the TV in an area that will have a lot of light reflecting off the screen. The remote control is very basic (typical of Vizio) and does not offer any universal remote features for controlling other devices. Setup is easy, and the quick setup guide even included the Vizio remote control code for use with the remotes of common satellite and cable set top boxes. The channel scan found all of the off-air digital channels in my area, along with the analog signal from my satellite box. Over-the-air reception appears strong - even some of the weak channels appeared locked in with no signal loss. I did not like any of the standard picture settings, so I used the custom setup to get a picture that was very good on the digital high-def channels and fair-to-good on the standard-def analog channels. Overall i think the picture quality if very good - but not the best I've ever seen. It's certainly among the best in this size class. Sound quality is a disappointment. The speakers are very small and are located on the bottom of the set - pointed downward. The sound is tinny, and downright irritating if you raise the volume above a modest setting. The set has audio outputs, so it could benefit from being connected to a better sound system - but since a set this size will probably be used in a kitchen or other area with limited space, how many people are going to do that? A big plus for this set are two features not found on most competing models. Both features take advantage of a USB port on the back of the set. If you plug in a USB drive loaded with your favorite pictures, you can view them, one at a time (as selected from displayed thumbnails) or as a slideshow. A photos menu even allows you to customize your slide show. Digital photos looked clear and crisp. Slide shows are silent - there is no option for background music or an audio track. If you plug a blank USB drive into the port, you can pause live TV for up to 30 minutes (using buttons on the remote). When you start the show playing again, you can jump forward or backwards through the recorded portion of the snow in 15-second increments. This feature requires a flash drive with at least 1-GB of high speed memory. I tried it with an old flash drive and the picture jumped and stuttered. I plan to get a newer drive with faster memory access and try it again. Note that this feature only works on Digital program content - meaning off air, or a set top box connected with an HDMI cable. It will not work for analog signals. If I could slice-and-dice the ratings, I would probably knock off a half-point for the poor sound quality and the highly reflective glass on the screen. But I still think this is a great little TV that is equal to or better than anything else currently available in the 19" size class, so I'm going to go ahead and give it 5 stars.
First of all, this Flat Panel looks terrific. Thin profile and high gloss finish makes it look great in any room. Very easy to use, but comes with a manual that is easy to follow if needed. Feature set is adequate with custom settings if you want your own look. I'm multi-purposing it by using the PC, Component, HDMI and AV inputs. All are easy to get at using the soft buttons on monitor or remote. Picture is great and contrast ratio is superb when viewing HD. My only negative comment is the screen itself should be less glossy and have more of a matte finish to it. Depending on light in the room it can be too reflective at times. Walmart was very good with price of unit and fast free delivery via FedX.
This 19" tv works great. The screen is a bit smaller than I had anticipated - changing from a "square" screen to a "rectangle" screen has been a bit hard for me to become acustom. But, that is strictly my fault as I received exactly what I ordered. It has a very good picture and sound.
This Vizio Razor 19" LED-LCD TV is awsome! It's size is perfect for limited spaces. Sound quality is crystal clear! The set-up was so user-friendly I believe my 5 year old niece could have done it. The picture quality, too, is unbelievable. And when the remote is not handy, I love the idea of waving my hand over the front edge so as to display volume and channel and menu functions. How Star Trek is that? Way cool! I would recommend this particular TV to anyone interested in a "small-size" TV (kitchen, dorm room, home office, bathroom, etc.). All the other TV's (4) in my home are Samsung flat screens and are 4-5 times the size of this Vizio. This being my first Vizio and given the progress of this type of technology, I may consider another Vizio down the road. The packaging of the unit was very reassuring. It was very well protected in it's box in order to maintain the unit's integrity for shipping. The box even had a carrying handle on it making it easy to take out to the car. How cleaver is that? Instructions were easy to understand, though set-up was easy enough not to need them. I am totally happy with my choice and would, indeed, recommend it!
We chose this TV for our daughters room. Its screen is very bright and clear. Sounds good too. Its appearance is also aesthetically pleasing. Great choice for a 19" widescreen. She loves it!
I looked at many TVs for the kitchen. I decided to go with this one because of the many features, quality of picture and, very important the energy efficiency. It could have a better sound but is ok as a kitchen unit. Also, it very slim and doesn't get in the way. And with the USB connection it doubles as a nice, big picture viewer when I connect the digital camera.
I bought this TV for my kitchen. It fits nicely mounted under my cabinet. The picture quality is the best that I have seen in an LCD of this size. There are more than enough input options on the back and the sound quality is adequate for a LCD of this size. It does lack bass in the sound but that is to be expected. The excellent picture quality makes up for the moderate sound. Another nice feature is the full glass front and touch sensitive buttons which makes this a perfect LCD for the kitchen as my wife is a messy cook. So when stuff gets splashed or slopped onto the TV it can be easily cleaned without damage to the display.
This is the coolest little TV I have seen in a long time. It is LED so it is eco friendly and it puts out very little heat. It has cool features and is extremely flexible for hookups. The only drawback is the big power plug box 4x3x1in or so that requires an extension chord or outlet multiplier if you are plugging it in behind a dresser or stand.
My wife wanted a new flat screen high definition television for the kitchen. We watch the television in the kitchen after breakfast and before we eat dinner. After considerable online research, I originally purchased a Sharp LC19SB27UT. The picture on that television was superb, but the sound output (1.5 w/channel) was marginal. So, we returned it, and after more research we ordered the Vizio VM190XVT. My wife really liked the looks, and the sound output is satisfactory (a little "tinny"), but the glossy screen reflects light and makes it hard to see what is on the screen. The angle for remote is also a little narrow. We decided to keep the Vizio, but if I was in the market again I would buy a television with a mat finish on the screen.
The channels don't change right away. There is a 2-3 second pause before it does. The remote is very flimsy and almost bends when pushing the buttons. The picture and sound quality are good. The TV itself is very nice looking.
