I bought this humidifier to replace two misting humidifiers that were hard to keep clean a d left dust all over our apartment. I had settled on looking for a evaporative type humidifier and did some research concerning , ease of cleaning, water capacity, type of controls, and area square footage that each unit would humidify. I found this vornado model and was impressed with the water capacity, ease of cleaning and the digital controls, as well as the DC motor which would vary the fan speed based on the humidity measured by the humidistate built into the unit. The unit was able to maintain our apartment, approximately 900+ square feet at about 35% humidity level for the last month. Replacing water is si.e and easy. Very happy with the unit.
The humidifier reservoirs are easy to fill and clean. Due to the way the unit is designed, the base is very easy to clean when replacing filters. It maintains a constant humidity in the house; and is very quiet.
I purchased two units for my home, and so far I've been very happy with them. I keep one in the downstairs main part of the house and the other in the primary bedroom. They have made my desert home so much more comfortable. I can see and feel the difference the extra humidity has made in my skin, hair, nasal passages and my eyes. The unit is very quiet, aside from the occasion gurgle when the water goes into the base. Now that I've changed out the filters for the first time, I notice that the units are quite easy to clean. There is no white dust on my floors and furniture, which was a problem with other humidifiers I have owned. The design is elegant and they fit well with our decor. As an added bonus, my houseplants love it too!
I leave it on the auto/eco mode and it quietly purrs, I love it. The humidistat doesn't show what the current reading is, just the set point, but based on when the fan starts and what two other devices show for rh% it's got to be dead on. Easy to take apart and clean too
We recently moved from a house where all the heating/cooling comforts were "piped-up" from the basement through the HVAC system. Low humidity levels became a real problem in our new apartment home when the heating system was started. Having purchased other Vornado products in the past, I ordered this unit to help with the situation - huge improvement once the humidifier was started. I have since ordered a second unit to fully humidify our 2400 sq feet of living space. The Energy Smart feature works well for variable fan speeds and quiet sleeping noise levels. I also appreciate the ease in filling the water canisters and keeping the unit clean.
I bought this after searching for a humidifier that would work for a large room and be unobtrusive. This humidifier works well, is very quiet and simple to operate. I like the build quality as most humidifiers are made with cheap plastic and poor fitting parts. This machine feels substantial and has an intuitive design. It is also very energy efficient as I have checked energy consumption with a smart plug. It uses less than 13 watts on its highest setting and consumes far less while using the energy saver mode. I am impressed by its efficiency and ability to keep my home comfortable without noise.
Decided to try this instead of the cool mist humidifier I had been using for the last few years. (I got tired of the white dust all over everything.) The humidity has yet to go over 40% according to a separate hygrometer that I have set up in the room. That means the device runs continuously because it never gets up to 50%. With continuous running, the pads dry out. I thought running at slower speed might help, but still they dry out. I guess the only solution is to allow for a period of not running at all to enable the pads to soak up the water again. I'm experimenting with how long I can run it without the pads drying out. No answer yet; I've had it less than a month.
i returned this item for a few reasons: 1) my place is very dry and i need to run humidifiers around the clock. this unit is louder than Vornado's ultrasonic single tank and less effective (humidity levels stayed below 40% on the low and middle setting); 2) no matter how much i checked that the unit was level it would only draw water from one tank. i had to swap the tanks (not convenient) or tilt the machine considerably to get the second tank to empty; 3) the auto shutoff did not seem to work and the unit would continue to run while not drawing water from the second tank. i like the concept and maybe mine was just a dud, but i'm happier with 2 ultrasonics for my space.
Easy to use, easy to fill, easy to clean, but paper filters inside aren't wicking the water up and are mostly dry (right from new). Room humidity rose from around 18% to now around 20% with humidifier on high 24/7. Needs a better filter or occasional pump of water onto the top of the filters to make this work. My old small 1gal ultrasonic (designed for a much smaller room) last year went through 2 gallons/day in the same spot...thought this one rated for 4 gallons/day would give more, not less.
First one received was defective. Fan would not function. You replaced it with another. Thanks for that. The second one doesn't function either. Fan ran for 15 seconds and has stopped working on any setting. Since you do not do refunds and only replace the product I now have two I have to pay to recycle. I sure do not want another one as the two I got were defective out of the box. Bad experience, never again with that model.
