Solid little bike!!

The only things wrong with this bike is I am extremely rusty at riding. The grears are kind of weird to me. Back in the day I used to have a 10-speed and had no problems changing gears, so that's all me. Love the color, and the styling. I wasn't sure about the fact that its 24" because I am 5'5" in height. I just felt that the 26" was just too high. I just didn't like hiking my leg up that high even with the seat down I was on my tippy-toes. It just seemed big to me. I adjusted the seat up a litte (which is easy to do with the lever on the side) and all seems fine except my steering. I just wanted something to ride at the campground etc. Very nice. And the Wal-Mart associate was extremely nice. I'm very happy. Now if I can get that steering down.......lol.

I wanted something simple to ride for exercise. It is perfect. I had not riden for 25-30 years, it was perfect. I could not use a 26" bike, so the 24" was the perfect fit.

Let's just say to start with, I have bought many bikes in my past. This bike by far is my favorite. It's safe and reliable. It works great on many different surfaces. It's an 18 speed so I can put the gears where needed on whatever surface I may be on. I can't say how it would do in the mountains because I live way out in the woods and hardly ever go to the mountains, but it works great riding through the woods, off of the paths, so it's pretty much the same as riding through the mountains. I must say though, the seat is a little hard. That can be fixed easily though. Walmart carries a memory foam seat cover, it's pretty affordable, at $16. I hope this review helps!

We bought this bike for our 10 yr. old granddaughter for Christmas and it is perfect for her! Before purchasing the bike, I took Jaclyn(10 yrs. old) to Walmart and she sat on several girls bikes, including this 24". Jaclyn is an average 5th grader in size and it fit her fine. The bike was completely assembled and when we got it home we noticed the suggested age is 15 yrs. old. It has more gears than she will ever use, but, the price is so great, that's just a plus. This bike should last her a good 3-5 years or more, if she takes care of it. More importantly, Jaclyn loves it, and her friends have commented; they have never seen a purple mountain bike!

I am a 35 year old mom that wanted to ride with her kids. I am under 5'2", so I went with the 24" as to not kill myself. I really like riding my bike. It works great out off the trails and on the street. I needed some items to make the bike work for me. When I "test drove" the bike I did not think the seat was too hard. After riding a bit.. I was sore for a couple of days. You WILL need to upgrade the seat. I also bought new hand grips as the ones on there are really rough. It does not have holes in it to attach a water bottle. I bought a pouch to go on the front of the bike to hold that and other items. I also bought a light. So- the bike ended up costing a good amount more than the $109, but I am happy.

This Next Bike is an excellent value. Try to find and pay for these same features with a Schwinn bike and you will pay much more. The brakes are easy to apply. Walmart did not charge for assembly like Toys R Us does. The color is nice, I like the aluminum rims, and the brakes are much better than standard side-pull brakes on cheaper bikes. The only parts that I do not like are the cheap pedals, and the uncomfortable seat. It should be easy to change the pedals and seat with better or more comfortable items.

Great Entry Level Mountain Bike

Bought this bicycle site to store for my 9 year old daughter who looks more like a 11-12 year old in height. This bike's seat post will allow her to grow into it for another four to five years. My local Walmart was great in terms of willing to assemble the bicycle for me although it took another two days after it was received before I could pick it up. My daughter has been riding it for the past few weeks and is learning how to shift gears. She loves the looks and functionality of the bicycle. What prevented this bike from earning an "excellent" rating was the fact that after bringing the bicycle home, the gears did not shift smoothly and would jump a couple of gears when it was shifted. The assembler should have ensured proper function of the derailleurs. Being a little handy with bicycles, I attempted to adjust the derailleurs. I was able to adjust the rear derailleurs but the front derailleurs was still not functioning smoothly even after a couple of hours fiddling around with it. I was not able to taotally get proper clearance between the guide and the chain. It may be due to a slightly bent crank or guide - hard to tell. It works fine but once in a while it sounds like the chain is hitting the guide when in higher gears (15 - 21 speed). In lower gears the problem doesn't appear to be present so my daughter has mainly kept it between 8 and 14 gears. Otherwise a great entry level mountain bike.

Overall I like the bike. Upon purchase I immediately replaced the seat with a more comfortable one and added a basket to the front. I am not big into riding I just wanted something that would do for leisure riding now and then. The gears are a little shifty but once I figured it out it was smooth sailing from there. I am 5'3" so the bike fits me perfectly. For someone any taller I would recommend a 26".
