So far this has been the best 'Rechargable' trimmer I have owed so far (my 2nd Whal). The power on it is perfect for me because I trim my only beard and I keep my head hair trimmed all the way down to the stubs. I do not have a full head of thick hair so I can't say how it will perform for thicker haired people, however I believe it will do just fine. I did try another Whal trimmer set that I bought in the store, non-rechargable, which I liked. This had more power due to it be an Ac trimmer, it also came with a small two AA battery operated trimmer which was nice, but this was more than I needed power wise: Plus I did not want to deal with the two AA batteries. This unit also came with a small bonus trimmer that operated on just one AA battery. I was impressed of its power, it had more power the the AA unit. It really gives a close trim as well, I only wish that this little unit came with it own attachments - because it does not. All in all this is a great product and if you perfer rechargable units then just spend the extra cash, you will be happier in the long run. I do suggest you do some research first and compare the trimmers features to your own grooming style and needs... One more mention - Whal is a good brand so you can't go wrong here. I forgot to mention the blades - they do give me a nice clean and comfortable cut. I only use the smallest attachment (15mm) because that's my length preference. On previous units I have had attachments that are kind of pointed and scratch my head, but these ones are smoother and give a more comfortable trim. I have not had the unit long, only a couple of weeks so I can not talk about the battery and blade life of this unit. Based on what I have owned previously and my experience - I do trust that this Whal kit should last for five plus years - we'll see....
I didn't know what to get my husband for his birthday. God I was driving my self nuts trying to figure out what would be a great gift then i saw this product. Honestly this was perfect!! He loved it and it wasn't expensive and it was simple I give it 2 Thumbs UP :)
This is a great product. My husband had a stroke a while ago and although he has full use of his hands, he has no sensation in the right so clipping his own hair is a challenge. I'm now doing it and I used this for the first time and I'm pleased to say, it's easy to assemble the parts and to hold. Thrilled with this product
This is a good value for the money. I can replace my larger hair trimmer with this beard trimmer. Smaller and lighter makes it easier to use than corded hair cutters. I don't have much hair, so I don't need an industrial strength tool. Haha!
I had been looking around for these grooming kits for about a month. Some were very high priced by the same manufacturer with the features and accessories, just carried by different stores including web stores. The grip and girth of the handle is comfortable, noise level a tad loud, but not bad at all, very fair trade off for the price paid. The blades seem to made very well as our the attachments that snap on and off easily, with lots of options for sideburns, nose, mustache, beard. The only things I can pick on a bit is that the holding stand is made out of a cheesy plastic, and the accessories don't fit all that well, so you have to kind of lay them where the grooves fit so to speak. The unit itself has no "ready" light, so I suggest you let it charge overnight after you take it out of the box new and leave it there after usage. Overall it does seem to hold a very decent charge. The on/off switch is not the best pr the worst I have ever seen, but again, I must say for the manufacturer name, a great warranty of 5 years, lithium battery, cordless and corded, under $50.00!!! YOU CAN'T GO WRONG!
The trimmer works well and is made in U.S.A. but there are two issues: 1 I was not aware at the time of purchase that it is not a wet trimmer and shouldn't be exposed to water. 2. The single spacer I got on the trimmer is curved so the beard amount you want left on your face depends on the angle you hold the trimmer with the spacer, and that can lead to an "ooops" moment while trying to keep the beard hair length uniform. I had that moment and had to shave and start regrowing my beard anew.
It works fine. The only thing I dont like is the Storage/Charge base. Is uncomfortable when you grab one of the blades all of them move or fall. I like the product but I need to buy a bag for it! Because the base it wont work!
I've had many Wahl products and have generally been pleased with all of them - EXCEPT THIS ONE! I bought the groomsman pro to replace a cheap Remington model that served me very well for years. From day one with this groomsman pro I never could get more than 2-3 minutes use from the rechargeable battery. After a couple of uses/recharges, that quickly declined to getting less than a minutes use out of it. I was very disappointed! Since I had already discarded the packaging, I didn't try to return it to Walmart. I instead contacted Wahl customer service. The lady I dealt with was very accommodating and helpful. She had me mail it to them (I had to pay shipping) and she said they'd either repair or replace the unit. Within two weeks I had a brand new unit arrive in the mail. I had high expectations was excited to see how this one was going to perform. My excitement quickly faded, as this one began to perform AS POORLY as the first within a week. I've given up on this product, would NOT recommend it to anyone, and would never buy another. I didn't bother with customer service again, as it would have cost me another $7+ to ship to them again. Wasn't worth it. I'll find another Remington (or whatever brand I had before). (FYI...I do not frequently give negative reviews. I, more often than not, write positive ones. However, the only thing I can say positive about this product is that Wahl's customer service was great to work with when I contacted them!)
The charger was plugged into the wall and the razor. I smelled something burning, in the bathroom. It got so hot, it melted the end of the charger and the port on the razor. Fire hazard. Hate to think what would have happened if we weren't home.
This is the worst groomer/trimmer I have ever owned! I cannot believe the name Wahl is on it! It has absolutely NO cutting or trimming power. I am ticked off that I can't give it ZERO stars!!!!
