I have purchased this system after seeing the water quality around the Horse Cave, Green River Water area in Kentucky, I can't imagine how they are even allowed to give humans water like this. However about the RO system it was a snap to install, better quality water than bottled water! We have this system installed in the kitchen sink and ice/water dispenser on our fridge. Due to how dirty our water system is I would suggest changing your filters every 2-3 months instead of the 6 months Watts has suggested. If you live on the Green River water system in Kentucky test your own water, you will be buying bottled water for life after you see the results. I suggest buying the Watts Premier 5-stage Reverse Osmosis system with monitor faucet, it's one of the best things you can do for the longevity of your family!
I had the system installed by a plumbing company. Walmart sells the replacement filters. It has worked great, and I would highly recommend it.
My husband, who is not a Plummer, installed this for us and the water quality is excellant. The directions were very easy to follow and well illustrated. We were missing a nut in the "adapt-a- valve" package and called the company they were very prompt in sending out a new one. So far the operation of the unit is as represented and must wait to see the durability as to long term use. We did choose one that has a 'monitored faucet' so as to know when filters are needed. However the instruction manual has a maintaince schedual and that should suffice. Would highly recommend obtaining the 'filter wrench' to have on hand when changing the filters; it will save much effort in the process.
After 11 years with my Sears Kenmore R.O., I decided to purchase a new one. The filters and membrane for the Kenmore were terribly expensive and the system was starting to show it's age. Because I had a gift card, I went with this purchase from Walmart. I didn't install it; my plumber did but it took him very little time. He used my existing faucet because it was the same faucet that came with the system. I will say you have to follow the Mfg's recommendation to fill/drain the tank 3 times before using it. The first couple of times, there was an "oily" looking substance coming out of the faucet. After the third time, the water was fine and it tastes delicious.
My R.O. system is great. It is a 5. The customer service is a 0, thus the average rating. I live in a high rise in Indy and the water in this region is horrible. My plants are healthier. I drink more water because it actually looks drinkable now and it tastes great. My one disappointment is that now that I have had the unit for a few months and it is time to think about replacing the filters I am having troubles. I called Watts customer service line and was on hold for almost an hour. Finally I left a message and have not gotten a return call, it has been over thirty days. So last week I wrote an email .....I have yet to receive a response from the company. My thought is that the produce is only as good as the support unit. In this case support leaves a lot to be desired. All I wanted to know since there are so many different filters, is which one fits my particular unit. Why is that so difficult to ascertain?
There were many places with water leaking. After several attempts, I finally resolved the issue using the the knots from the old system that ran into problems two months ago.
