The 1 TB heatsink ssd is very easy to install in the PS5. The performance is incredible from moving games from console to ssd along with downloading games is fast as well. The gameplay is smooth no hiccups at all it's a great purchase well worth the price.
Games installed on this drive run and load faster than games installed on the internal/factory PS5 drive. Would DEFINITELY recommend using this drive in the PS5.
WD_BLACK™ SN850 NVMe™ SSD with heatsink was the perfect choice for my extended storage in the PS5. Not only was the installation easy, the games actually run faster from this M.2 drive. Installation was quick and transferring and writing to and from the drive is smooth.
I picked this up to upgrade my PS5 storage and it works perfectly
I bought this SSD for my PS5 and I have to say it super fast and easy to install and it has awesome read and write speeds. A big plus is that some games installed to it are loading faster than the ones installed on the internal PS5 SSD. The WD_BLACK SN850 is Lighting Fast Speed! and worth every penny!
Installed this drive in a new AMD build. Drive performs well and I have had no issues. WD Tools is nice, just wish it was as polished as Samsung Magician. I also appreciated that I could order the drive with or without the integrated heat spreader. As my motherboard did not include a heat spreader for the NVME drives I appreciated that I could buy one with it. This definitely is why I purchased WD over Samsung. My only regret is not getting the 2TB version.
This is a fantastic solution for expanding your Sony PS5! Lightning fast processing speed...dare I say it seems quicker than the Sony's own internal SSD, because it definitely performs well. Very easy to install too and has a sleek included heatsink as required by Sony's specs. I also have a WD_BLACK 5TB External Driver for my PS4 games - which I've had for more than a year and have been very happy with the solid build, durability, and responsiveness. It was very simple to migrate this drive over to my PS5 so that I have all of my content on one system. It's no wonder that Sony supports this internal NVMe SSD Gen 2 expansion!
Works great so far! Was forced to upgrade the storage on my PS5 thanks to massive update files for COD. When I placed my order the HD was in backorder for 2-4 weeks but was pleasantly surprised to receive it in less than 2 weeks. Will purchase from WD again in the future.
I bought this for my PS5 and it's been really great so far. Sometimes I feel like it's even faster than the stock PS5 SSD, perhaps because it doesn't have to deal with the OS in the background? I have no idea. I'm not very tech savvy, but installing and using this SSD wss amazingly simple. I'm very happy with my purchase.
This is a very fast drive, but with speed comes HEAT, which makes it all the more confounding that the thermal pads attached to the heatsink were making almost NO CONTACT with the chips (see pics). I ended up having to remove the heatsink and replace the thermal pads with a thicker 2mm pad. After posting this issue online, it turned out I'm not the only one. This drive has a serious manufacturing defect that needs to be addressed ASAP, especially given the heat this thing generates and that the heatsink isn't meant to be user-replaceable. https://i.imgur.com/VHHhXRJ.jpeg https://i.imgur.com/zHjfCxi.jpeg
