I bought My Passport to store very large fine art paintings. It copies them fast, but I should have gotten a drive with more capacity. It takes a bit more time to render them. Other than that, I have no problems with My Passport. It's ease to use, practical, and smaller than my phone.
I really like this drive. It holds a lot of date, but doesn't take up a lot of desk space.
Easy to setup and use, right out of the box on my MacBook Pro. Excellent performance. Nice to have the included connector, too, so it can work with an older Mac that has only a USB port available. Well worth the very reasonable price for 4TB.
everything so far so good, excellent copy speed
this is a great product for keeping technical knowledge
Pretty easy to get hooked up, although there are no instructions included and i had to go online to figure out what to do. Have not had to access the unit yet, so no idea how well it's performing.
When I first got it and I ran speed test using Black Magic right away while the drive is still empty, it was about 100MB+/s. After files are filled and I ran test again, it is now about 70MB/s. This USB-C interface is not any faster than the Micro-B USB/USB-A version. But the cool thing is right out of the box, it's already Mac formatted. There is only one cable supplied and it's an end-to-end USB-C cable with one USB-A adapter for one end only. One star less due to speed decreases after the drive is filled up with 3.8TB of data. If you are doing video, avoid this and get SSD external drive instead. For small file size, this works fine. If you work on very large files everyday, SSD external drive is highly recommended.
I plugged MyPassport Ultra for Mac into my computer, but no icon appeared on my computer. The online user's manual was of no help. So far, it is useless.
Unfortunately this product failed on me within the first month I used it. My PC could no longer recognize the drive and I could not access my files. Ended up costing me a lot of money to get a professional data recovery done by a local shop, very disappointing.
Neither drive I purchased will sync with Time Machine
