The Weber 14” Smokey Mountain Smoker is a welcomed addition to my collection of other great Weber Grilling products (Genesis SP330 Natural Gas grill and 18” One-Touch Kettle). I received the 14” Smoker as a gift and like all Weber Grills it’s a quality product. It was easy to assemble and the size is easy for me to move around and allows for plenty of room to get the job done with two cooking racks inside. While I’m an experienced griller I’m a novice at using a Smoker. The instructions included get you started but I recommend the Weber Blogs and website for additional information to get the best results and most out of your Smoker. So far I’ve smoked a Beef Brisket and whole chicken to perfection using the instructions included and info found on the web. The best part about weber products other than using them is the ease in finding replacement parts when parts age off, because they last years and sometimes decades as my original Weber Genesis did. rpf
I have the WSM 18 and saw the 14. I just had to have it! I literally wanted to hug it because it’s adorable! It’s my daughters ‘baby smoker.’ Don’t let that fool you though. This smoker is very effective. It only takes one large rapid fire chimney of charcoal to fit in the fire ring. After that it takes maybe 5 minutes to get to temperature and easily holds temperature for hours! It really is a wonderful smoker and holds more than you’d expect for food. I love this little smoker. Very effective, efficient, and well built. I made the mistake of buying the WSM 18. Now I can’t stop buying Weber grills. I will be getting a Weber spirit gas grill, performer kettle, and hopefully a summit charcoal grill in the future. I love your products!!
So amazed with what this smoker can do. My husband and I were completely new to smoking when we bought this. When we got it, we opened it up and just jumped right in. We made the best ribs on the first try and haven't looked back since. Highly recommend!
I love my experience with my WSM I've had several cooks, all turned out well for a beginner and there is a great community online and a ton of information on things to do, how to run it and even modifications for another tool that will work well with it. I highly recommend it.
This is one of my favorite smokers of all the grills/cookers I own, it's a lot of fun! It's my go-to smoker 90% of the time. One of Weber's best kept secrets, it holds way more food than it looks like it would, two pork butts, two smaller brisket flats, tons of chicken etc. It's small and light, breaks down easily to take with you to a friend's house or camping etc. Easy to use: With water in the pan as Weber recommends, this will hold steady 230 to 250 for hours once the vents are adjusted. I'd recommend getting a dual probe thermometer for accurately keeping track of your chamber temp and food internal temp, Weber provides a probe grommet on the side of the middle section just for this. As with most of them the thermo in the lid is purely decorative, up to 30 degree difference from dome temp to food-level temp. I also upgraded mine with an aftermarket stainless steel door and adjustable latch (Google search them, they're a very popular bbq accessory site). You obviously don't have to go with one of these, but it makes all the difference in the world by stopping up draft leaks from the factory door for better temp control via the dampers, plus they add a MAJOR upgrade to the looks of the cooker. Without it the temps are much harder to dial in steady since the cheap factory tin door leaks so much, truly the only downfall of the cooker. The cooker is basically a smaller version of the 18.5 that's been around since the early 1980's, tried-and-true. In case you're wondering the heat deflector pan is internal on the bottom of the bowl, not outside like the 18 and 22. Other than that the design is pretty much the same as its big brothers. I say if anything it's underrated, they don't market if very hard and you'll be hard-pressed to find it in stock locally anywhere (for whatever reason most dealers don't stock them, you'll probably have to pick one up online), but I wouldn't hesitate! Awesome cooker!
I got my WSM to be my portable smoker since I own a large one, but since I first lit it, it has become my main smoker. I used to burn between 4-6 kgs of coal now I do 1 kg and it lasts for more than 8 hrs. I use it to grill as well as to smoke and despite it seems the cooking area is small, it holds easily 2 -3 pieces of meat to grill or 1 big chunk to smoke.
Great smoker, easy to use, fairly easy to clean up. It helps I already have a Weber iGrill with 3 probes, so keep an eye on smoker temp and meat temp.
at this time i have used it 3 times since i bought it all satisfied with the performance of the weber smokey moutain 14 inches would definitely recommend it
First time charcoal user! This smoker does an amazing job at keeping heat and maintaining temperature. Get your charcoal going, adjust the vents and you can have up to a 7 hour cook with 1 chimney of charcoal!
It might be a little bit too small. I thought it would be enough but I wish I had bought the 18” instead
