Just what I wanted for the lawn. My riding mower did not get into every corner that the Weed Eater can / does ( around trees , close to the house , around the deck , and on the side of the hill that I have in my front yard , and arount the A.C. ) Everything is put together , other than raising the handle and securing the lock nuts , and giving it oil / gas. Large wheels to get thru that tall grass . Good price for what you get .
I entered a five "star" rating since this system will not let me write a review without some numerical rating, although I have not owned the mower long enough to give an honest rating. I bought the mower yesterday and have used it once. Therefore, I am not addressing any true quality issues. I just want to give two initial impressions. "Some Assembly Required" Yes, I had to open the box, remove some cardboard in a couple of places that protected it in shipment, flip the handle in the middle to the extended position, and tighten the oversized thumbscrews down. Oops, I forgot to read the assembly instructions. Next, add oil that came with the mower, some good quality gas, 3-5 pumps with my thumb on the primer bulb for first use, and pull the start cord. Vroom, I was off and mowing. As a mulcher, it works well in short grass but anything overgrown will cause the mower to leave grass clumps to deal with later. I have read the blogs and anticipate having to clean the spark plug after every three uses, air cleaner periodically, and change the oil annually.
This mower does a fantastic job for the money. It's very light weight, easy to push, and can mow through thick grass without getting bogged down. The folks giving this a bad review... I'm thinking they may not know how to properly operate a lawn mower. Bottom line, if you live in a typical suburban style neighborhood with a typical half-acre (or less) lawn this mower is fantastic.
I got my mower 2 years ago at the end of the summer season. After running it all of last summer and the beginning of this season, I am happy to say that this mower still cuts the same as when I first fired it up. I have changed the oil as recommended, I use synthetic oil. It has given me no problems and feels good mowing with. It is rigid and durable and feels like it will last for years. This mower was bought to replace my previous mower, YardMachines, that the front wheel fell off of. Recommendations: I use good quality Synthetic oil, changed every season. I also installed an E3 Diamond Fire spark plug. Scrap the grass clippings off every cutting and spray with PAM cooking spray to prevent build up of grass clippings. Sharpen your blade every year for better cuts. The mower runs like a champ and will last for years to come.
My old mower of 14 years died this year,....I really wanted an electric cordless mower,....but realized that the battery technology is still not quite there. So,....I decided to find a cheap holdover until the rechargeables get more powerful. Walking around in Walmart, I found myself in the lawn and garden center looking at mowers. I discovered the WeedEater mower and began to smile. I recalled a time several years ago when I bought an inexpensive electric blower for the deck when my big gas blower died. It was a WeedEater brand too and it's the best blower I've ever owned. Took a chance again....why not,.....it was the cheapest priced mower on display. In short,.....here we go again! Another winner! I love it!! Sturdy built,....solid,...steel deck doesn't flex on turns. Engine built in US too. Well balanced and you can't touch the price! Cuts great and the mulcher is nice! No grass trails after cutting through thick grass.
i just bought this 2 weeks ago, i had a previous weedeater and it was great, i broke it when i accidently hit a metal pole and bent the shaft..i would still be using it otherwise. i had that one for 6 years and never had a bit of trouble with it, hope this one lasts as long, i'm sure it will. love the fact that it mulches and my yard looks great.. great price too, can't beat this mower.
Took 5 minutes to remove from box, adjust handles, add oil/gas, start on 1st pull...mowed w/ it, works fine for the rough lawn - lots of rocks/twigs - I use it on.
Bought this to replace an existing 20 inch deck Weed Eater that was 4 years old and about at end-of-life. Easy setup. You can probably just put the entire bottle of oil in; the instructions didn't explicitly say this, but I found out the hard way after 5 - 10 minutes of constantly checking the oil level. Started on the 2nd pull. I really like the mulching capability and the bigger rear wheels. It's a lot easier to maneuver than the previous one I had. The wider deck also saves a couple of swats in the long run. Good buy for the money.
I LOVE the site to store option... LOVE IT!!! Price was very good. The only problem we have had so far is that it would bog down and sound like it was missing in heavy grass, however the grass was not that heavy. My husband had to turn it off and let it "rest" before finishing the job. But overall we are pleased with it.
This mower fits to the tee what I need to do with it. I just added the oil and gas and with two pulls on the rope it was off and cutting. It will also mulch but you can set it up not to as I did.
