Really like these outlets (they call them switches). We often have outages, so it's a relief to know our lights are working at the correct times while we are away. 2nd outlet was a little problematic, followed the instructions when a second outlet doesn't work and it popped-up and was operating.
Bought this before Christmas to use for turning on and off my tree and this made my life easier because the outlet was under a table. Once we had it set up it was great to be able to ask Alexa to turn off the tree and now we have a light under a fantastic picture. What a difference it makes. We enjoy the first one so much we bought 2 additional.
I have been using WeMo products for about a year I love the fact that I have for my garage door as well as being able to turn on and off lights automatically as well as manually . I have been anxiously waiting for more than a year for we move Water to come out and I hope it will be available to the public soon .
I sometimes need to turn off and back on again my D-Link security camera because it loses it's WiFi connection. I bought the WeMo switch to turn my camera on and off remotely. The WeMo switch doesn't lose it's connection so I can count on it to reset my camera. I have also used the WeMo switch in what is called "Away" mode to turn off and on a light at different times to give the impression someone is home. Very handy device.
I needed a way to turn the Christmas tree on and off, so I got this switch to use with Alexa in hopes it would handle at least 1,800 watts. Nowhere does Belkin tell you the wattage, they should, it's a great selling point. See video.
I have 2 of the plug in WeMo switches and 2 wall switches. Installation went fine and all four of these are set up to run on a schedule and run fine. My complaint is the app. I have the app on my iPad and my Android phone, at any given time not all the switches can be found by the app. To make it worse different switches will be found on the iPad and Android at the same moment in time.
Took a very long time to get it to connect to my Apple network. Moved it once to a different plug and had the same problem. Once connected it works well.
I added this to my rental property to manually reset an access point. Since it needs to try to reach the signal from the main router one floor up, the signal gets spotty. Sometime I can access it, sometime it can't find the device. Also, another thing that needs to configured is that when there is a power outage, the wemo should return back to the state it was in prior to the outage. I tested this on a power strip and the receptacle just stay OFF after power is restored I would like to see 5Ghz, even have a rj45 port for a more stable connection. It may sound obsolete for the technology, but it gives customer an option. Last thing that would be nice is a web interface for api calls rather than just phone app, if I lost my phone, I'd have to go back to my unit to sync it. The sensi thermostat I own gives me an account where I can login via PC or Android to operate, belkin is a mature company that should provide this.
Even with stable Internet and a strong consistent Wifi signal, WEMOs have inconsistent connectivity. They simply drop off, and most importantly do (not) seemed to be programmed (well) to reach out to re-establish a Wifi connection. Multiple WEMOs need (!) to communicate with each other so that if one WEMO loses a Wifi signal connection that it still remotely operates, through the WEMO that still has a Wifi connection. Overall, WEMOs are currently a truly average product.
Was so looking forward to using this product, I bought two. Instructions were easy to understood... but the WeMo switch didn't work. Keep telling me it couldn't connect to my internet. Followed the helpful video hints to get to work, but couldn't get it to work for me. Didn't even open the 2nd box, can't be bothered. Sending them back.
