Wonderful blunt end scissors. I first purchased these scissors for my grandchild and ended up using them for grooming my small dogs. They are just the right size with a comfortable fit in my hands, have rounded tips and are very sharp. This review applies only for the Wescott scissors for ages 12+, ACM14231.

I would say these are good general scissors that I would leave around the house for family members to use, I would say 10+ in age to use, so middle school/high school students based on the description of "students". Great handles and sturdy, all around scissor. I haven't tested other than paper and opening up plastic bags and they do the job in the kitchen area for me. These are a great step up from the kids scissors ... the bigger handles are light and easy to use with either hand, and the long strong blades do a great job on heavy duty paper and cardboard, and pretty good job on thicker things like poster and foam boards (although requires a bit more pressure to cut through, as you would imagine). I thought this was a SET of scissors - as pictured and described. Someone on 2-28 seemed to indicate she bought the set, however i received only one blue pair of scissors.
