I am laying out plans for a new shed using pencil and paper. I like this ruler because I can see exactly where lines meet. The ruler does not get in the way. It magnifies small details and the finger ridge makes it easy to hold onto without smudging my drawings. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
The magnification in the middle of the ruler makes this product worth getting. I found found it useful several times. The ruler is clear so you can see right through it so you know exactly where you are on the page. Love it! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
My age is beginning to take a toll on my sight. Recently putting together a monstros swingset this came in very handy for reading the directions and measuring hardware. Good quality and more handy than you would imagine. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
The Wescott Magnifying Ruler is great for drawing or even drafting. Also for spread sheets at the office. It is translucent with 2X magnifying power making it easy to read print through it. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Okay, it's a ruler; we all use them at least occasionally. It is clear plastic so I can see both sides of the edge, unlike wooden rulers. The edge is not bumpy like dollar store rulers. And... It has a magnifying strip the length of the ruler. My wife keeps one in her office, and I have one in my briefcase. It is much better than a magnifying glass for reading small print documents, as you can keep track of what line you are on as you scan. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Was anxious to try this ruler out. Very handy for scanning down the page of old documents in my book store. Have used for research in books and collectable cards as well. Will not replace a magnifying glass, but works well for it's purpose. Disappointed by the depth of the magnifier/grip. Not really tall enough to grip. Either change the slant of the magnifier/grip or make it of a size for easier grip. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
The Scissor Mouse works beautifully for straight or slightly curved cuts across the full width of a piece of paper- I will probably use it most for cutting wrapping paper. Note: there is a funny red do-hicky on the bottom of the scissor mouse that looks like it should be peeled off before using it. Don't peel it off! It is the paper guide and is necessary for your mouse to work properly. The one I have is blue, but I wish I had this sassy Zebra striped version! I found the Scissor Mouse easily cut through 2 sheets of regular printer paper and through thicker paper as well. The package also claims the Scissor Mouse won't harm surfaces. There was no sign of damage on any of the surfaces I tried cutting on, which is nice insurance if I forget myself and use it on my antique dining room table. The mouse works best if you start it a little ways back from the edge of your paper on a hard flat surface. The mouse is not designed to cut shapes from the middle of a page, and tends to get hung up if you don't cut all the way to the far edge (like if you were trying to cut fringes in your paper to make a hula skirt or something). As for the curves promised by the ads, it works well on long, gentle curves that go all the way across the sheet. This tool is not appropriate for cutting out small curved shapes, but they never claim that it is. I especially like the handy see-through ruled guide that helps you cut a straight line. It is also easy to use with a straight edge, but keep in mind that the width of the tool means you can't cut directly against the straight edge. The best feature is that the blade is completely retracted, making it safe for kids and clumsy people such as myself. You can also throw it in a bag and not worry about cutting your hand when you reach in to pull it out (I did that once with and X-acto blade- OUCH!).
I was excited to receive a Westcott Scissor Mouse as a sample to try just in time for gift wrapping season. My son's third birthday is next week, and Christmas is just around the corner. I will be doing some serious gift wrapping and the Scissor Mouse seems like it will be a great tool to help me wrap my gifts neatly and quickly. The Scissor Mouse packaging gives fairly straightforward instructions, however I think it would be helpful if the packaging mentioned that the little red thing on the bottom of the scissor mouse should not be removed. The little red thing is the paper guide, and it is essential for the proper operation of the Scissor Mouse. Unfortunately, it looks like one of those pull tabs that you might find on other items which are part of the packaging which must be removed before using the item. Fortunately, I realized that the red thing was the paper guide before I tried to take it off. When I first started trying to use the Scissor Mouse, I could not get it started. Then, I tried starting a little ways back from the edge of the paper and it worked wonderfully. After I got the hang of using it, the Scissor Mouse easily cut through 2 sheets of regular printer paper and through wrapping paper too. It cuts nice straight lines and long, smooth curves. I was worried that the Scissor Mouse might make a mark on the table, but since the package claimed that it would not, I tried it without placing anything under the paper that I was cutting. I am happy to report that there were no marks on the table top after I cut the paper and the wrapping paper. The Scissor Mouse is lightweight, and it is attractive. Mine is hot pink with zebra stripes. I really like that the blade retracts fully whenever the Scissor Mouse is not being pressed down on a hard surface. I have a three year old son, and I am sure that despite my best attempts to keep the Scissor Mouse out of his view, there will come a time when he sees it and tries to grab it. It is great that it is designed to be safe. I like the Scissor Mouse for cutting wrapping paper because it helps me to cut the paper much more neatly than I can with scissors. I'm looking forward giving neatly wrapped packages to all of my family and friends this holiday season, thanks to the Scissor Mouse.
A ruler is always handy on your desk. This one has double duty as a magnifier which makes it all the more handy on your desk. The shape and the way you wish to magnify something may take a little getting used to, but for a quick magnification of a line of type it is great. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It doesn't magnify enough for me to see anything better. However, I do love that it is clear. Use it all of the time.
