This electric food mill includes 3 milling discs and a spatula. Discs can be easily switched out. Spatula can be used to scrape out food that is stuck under the blade. At first I thought this was a food processor by looking at it which it is not. It is to be used only for cooked fruits, cooked vegetables and nuts. If you have something that you would like puréed this would be perfect for it for example chunky salsa or applesauce. This would be good for making your own baby food without the extra ingredients. The mill sets on top of your bowl and the cover locks in place for safety. Clean up is easy if you do it right after use. Otherwise I recommend letting the mills soak if the food is dried on.
I was happy to receive this Weston Electric Food Mill with 3 stainless steel milling discs, in return for review. I have never used a food mill before, so I didn't know what to expect. I have seen the manual food mills, where it was necessary to keep turning the crank. For anyone possibly older or arthritic, that is almost impossible. I love homemade mashed potatoes, homemade tomato soup, and homemade applesauce. Coring, peeling and seeding can be time consuming. This food mill takes the work out of it. You use the appropriate milling disc for your desired outcome. I like my mashed potatoes and tomato soup smooth and creamy, so I used the fine milling disc. For my applesauce, I prefer a courser texture, so I used the course texture milling disc. All 3 items that I used the food mill for, came out really good. There was no need to peel, seed and core. This food mill does the work for you. After using this food mill, I have found that it makes my life so much easier and allows me to accomplish more natural foods, in a shorter amount of time. I would recommend this Weston Electric Food Mill with 3 stainless steel milling discs, to any of my friends or to anyone that likes to cook.
I have never used a food mill before and I was wanting to start making my own applesauce since I have an apple tree. This electric food mill is so easy to use. There really is nothing to using 1. It is also very easy to clean. You get 3 disc that have different size holes and a spatula. This can be used for so many different things.
My family are big into gardening and canning. Someone gave us a hand crank one and it does work wonders. However, I heard of an electric mill and thought how great it would be if we could afford one. I saw this and it was in my price range!! I can't wait for us to use it to make cranberry juice, grape juice , and so many other recipes!
I just received this electric food mill about a week ago. I wanted to use this to process fruit and vegetable at home for eventual canning. I tried with apples already for applesauce and it saves a lot of time! It also has 3 blade discs for fine, medium, and coarse. Well worth it! I would recommend this for anyone wanting to process their own food at home.
Weston Electric Food Mill w/3 Stainless Steel Milling Discs works to mash and sieve generally cooked foods. I wanted this food mill to make homemade applesauce. When I unpackaged the mill, I was surprised by the size of the machine. For some reason I had thought it would have a bowl attachment of some sort for the mashed food to fall into. This electric mill goes on top of a bowl and the bowl is not included. I had one glass bowl that it sorta fit on but the mill is bulky and was difficult for me to mill while making sure the bowl wasn't going to tip. Therefore, for me, this mill wasn't easier to use than my apple peeler and blender. I do however see how this would be nice for making jams with seeds. The sieve holes are small and it seems it may keep many seeds from ending up in the jam if that's preferred. The machine itself is made well and has some nice features. It is not compact and does not fold up in any way so you will need a storage space for it. As for washing the parts, I put them all in the dishwasher and they came out nice and clean. The electrical parts of the mill I wiped with a wet cloth and it easily came clean. Overall, it does the job of a mill and may be a good fit for some uses.
I was looking forward to getting this Electric Mill as I have the regular hand turned one which is hard work. Well I was disappointed, it didn't work like I thought it would. It only seems to work for cooked soft foods like potatoes, tomatoes, steamed veggies. I tried it milling raw garlic and all it did was pass it around. At least with my hand turned mill I can put more pressure when need be to get the food through.p and it would kill raw garlic. I like it can be disassembled for easy cleaning but it's not easy to get the handle back on for me. The different disc are great too. I think I may need to get good practice or something to get this thing to work for me but so far it doesn't mill all that I would like to mill. Please note it doesn't not work without the cover and also you need to hold the start button down for it to work, there's no on and off.
I have had this mill for several weeks and have used it many times to make sure I give this mill a fair review. The mill comes with 3 milling disc. One for coarse texture that is already attached to the food mill, a medium milling disc, and on for fine milling. It also comes with a plastic spatula. The mill itself is 3 pieces that are fairly simple to take apart. The food mill is an electric appliance that works kind of like a food processor and had a forward and reverse button on it's handle. To change the texture of the food your going to mill remove the handle by pulling back on the red button directly below the handle. The blade will automatically detach then place the milling disc in the bottom with the dome side up and replace the blade to the handle, unfortunately, I did find it a little harder to put the handle back on once the disc was in! With some determination and patience I did manage to get it back on. Then replace the clear plastic top which snaps on much more easily than the handle. Place you food in through the opening at the top then plug it in and turn it on. FYI, It works great for baby food, green beans and other vegtables, apple sauce, and creamed soups. I plan to try it for canning tomato sauce this summer. Make sure you have a pan or bowl that will work for or the mill to sit on. If it was easier to put together I would give it a higher rating.
I was very pleased with the Weston Electric Food Mill. It arrives with instruction guide, three stainless steel discs and hard plastic spatula. The lid locks on and there are forward and reverse buttons to control the blade and prevent food from becoming lodged under the blade. This is a must if you enjoy making gravies and sauces this way. The electric mill is much easier than the by-hand mill I grew up on. The ease of this process makes it enjoyable to be creative in the kitchen.
The Weston Electric Food Mill w/3 Stainless Steel Milling Discs was a bit disappointing. Since I cook every other day and I do not use processed foods, I was excited to get this food mill. However, I found it to have a glitch in performance. I cut up lots of veggies, so this food mill was going to save me a lot of time in prep. I sliced some onions and put them into the Weston Electric Food Mill and found that the blade did a lot of spinning and was very unproductive. The veggies get caught under the spinning blade and nothing happens. After 3 attempts with various veggies, cheese, etc., finally I took them out and chopped them by hand. I was unable to get the Weston Electric Food Mill w/3 Stainless Steel Milling Discs to perform one single task. Unfortunately, I do not recommend the Weston Electric Food Mill w/3 Stainless Steel Milling Discs
