I've used the Smart 1.9-cu ft Over-the-Range Convection Microwave with Sensor Cooking (Fingerprint-Resistant Stainless) Model #: WMH78019HZ for a month. I've used it several times for convection baking and it does a fantastic job. Microwave features and presets are very useful. I haven't used them all, but there's a wide variety available. Interior is easy to clean. My one suggestion is for Whirlpool to make the cage around the convection element and fan nicer. It looks like raw steel and every spatter during baking or roasting sticks and burns on. The rest of the machine is pristine, but that end looks dirty and won't clean up. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My old microwave lasted 18 years! Time for a new one. Found this one and I am so amazed at all the features, ease of use, and how much better technology has come. Highly recommend this Whirlpool microwave.

We bought this microwave convection combo oven May 21, 2020, absolutely love it. We use it daily! It's so smart! One of the features I love is the sensor cook method, no setting of time or percentage, it just cooks. Oh yes, the convection is awesome, from biscuits to banana bread. We are pleased with everything. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

During a previous home remodel, we purchased this microwave in 2018 to help sell the home. We used it for about a year while finishing the remodel and found it to be worth every penny. After selling the home and moving into our new house, we learned we had been spoiled with this appliance and found ourselves replacing the new houses existing microwave, despite not needing to. Both purchases were good experiences. Installation is simple. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this a month ago and have been using it for the last few weeks. I like the features including the front controls, convection oven (no need for the counter top toaster oven), and how quiet it is. Purchased a New range too. Very nice set.

Nearly Perfect Microwave and Convection Oven

I installed the oven a couple of weeks ago and we try to use it every day to test it's features. It works great, and it's easy to program it for what we want to do. We hardly ever need to consult the manual to find out how to do want we need... No real complaints yet, except that the control panel part that isn't backlighted needs to have bright room light to be able to read the nomenclature. I'm installing custom light fixtures on the ceiling to illuminate the panel, so it can be seen when the room lights are not turned on. Those lights are Hue bulbs, and of course "Alexa" and "Siri" can control them via voice commands... I installed the oven myself, and just needed some help lifting it into position, otherwise it was a one person job and not too difficult. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Good microwave, except the ventilation fan.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this a month or so ago to replace another Whirlpool I had for 15 years. I trust the Whirlpool brand after having no problems with my old microwave for so many years. This model seems to be sturdy and cooks well. Two issues I have with it: 1) The ventilation fan won't pick up steam from boiling water at all. I had it on High and it didn't even move the steam, in fact, the steam went up the face of the microwave and into the intake air vents on top of the microwave! The glass face of the microwave was getting very wet and steamed up from the boiling water. So much that I had to use something to blow the steam away from the door. I will have to contact Whirlpool about the bad ventilation. 2) I wish the controls on the front door lit up in the dark. At night, I like to keep the main lights in the kitchen off because my kids' room is next door and the light streams into their bedroom. So, I liked to use the microwave light to see at night. However, I can't see the controls in the dark at all. The controls on the left are backlit, but only when you hit the correct button, and I can't see that button, or any others, in the dark. If there is a way to enable the backlight on all control buttons somehow, please let me know!

Convection Option Good but Could Be Better

We bought this about a month ago because of its upgraded features, especially the convection oven option. It has a very sleek and contemporary design that would fit into any kitchen. Because of its convection feature, it is a great option for folks with smaller kitchens (like us). This means freed up space on the counter. It also has a wifi feature that we have yet to really dig into, but it's cool to see when food is cooked (not sure how essential that is, but it's neat to get a notification on the phone). It looks like we can start the microwave feature via app. Will have to try. The biggest surprise is how big the unit is. It sticks out from the cabinet probably a good half a foot. Some of that is due to the door which has the handle built into the side of the front panel. Still the oven does not look out of place. Pros: Sleek, contemporary design. Convection and wifi options. Cooks well and evenly. Cons: We like the convection feature, but it is not without faults, of which I will speak. The convection function is counter-intuitive to a degree. You don't just hit a button and start cooking. For comparison, we have a toaster oven that we used for convection purposes for a couple of years and it was a very simple process to get cooking. Turn the knob to the selection, set temperature and hit start. The microwave, on the other hand, requires one to go through multiple steps (back and forth across the panel) to get cooking. I don't quite understand why they made it more difficult. It almost seems like it was not given much thought (or too much), in the design process. Maybe we need to review the manual again to make sure we are doing it the correct way! About the pre-heat, it takes quite a while to get heated, so don't think of this as a huge time saver. Additionally, it's not the easiest task to get food out of the oven, after being cooked. Very easy to get burned as it is insanely hot in there after the convection oven completes. At that price point I would think more thought would have been given to that (sliding grates or lowering/raising the grate. Something along those lines). With all that said, it does cook very well, which is what it is supposed to do. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I like the features but sloppy workmanship

I bought this microwave a month ago. The 1st one had to be replaced because the door glass shattered while convection was starting to warm up. The second unit was installed within one week of notification. The second unit workmanship is sloppy. The door hinge has to much play and jumps up as it closes. The top hinge is installed incorrect so the top of the door doesn't close against unit and can see inside microwave. The lower sheet metal on the bottom of the unit that holds the lights and fan is bent by manufacture by forcing screws up and in place. So what happens is it drags against the door as you open it and I can actually see the light bulbs through front of the unit underneath. I give up, strike 2 on this unit. Don't get me wrong, I like the features and ease of use but workmanship and reliability they lost me as a customer. I just hope the matching dishwasher I bought don't have issues. So far ok. Been using it for a little over a year and a half and now the door is falling apart just like all the other reviews have said. Wish i would have read the reviews before buying.
