This works as expected - you need to be aware of the following: 1 - If you are running this unit off of the round DC "cigarette lighter" adapter in your vehicle, the unit will not operate unless your DC power is on while the car is running. If your power does stay on while your car is off, you may run your battery down. Look at installing a separate Aux Power Supply unit dedicated to this freezer if this will be something you need to stay running during request stops. This unit does not have an internal battery to keep it running for any period of time if power is not active to the unit. We will order more.
I bought this freezer in 2014 to use on board a commercial fishing vessel operating out of Nome, AK. The until was on the upper deck, under a cover but outside, year around for 4 years. I know these are not the recommended working conditions, but the freezer worked great! It never let us down. The only issue we had was that the hinges got stiff and one of them broke....but I can hardly hold that against it. If you need a freezer that will go the distance, this is definitely the one to get.
I've had this for over 7 years and it's keeping barrel aged beers at 43F all that time, out in the garage, with never a problem. I have had the 65qt size as well for over 6 years.
Bought 3.5 years ago and use in very challenging salt water sailing. I have had this unit all over the North Atlantic and still running strong. only problem has been the front cooling fan which was a std 5 volt magnetic fan. works great on 120 volts ac and 12 volts dc.
I bought this about 4 months ago to store ice cream sandwiches for my mobile wood fired pizza business. It has worked like a champ and keeps the ice cream at -6 degrees most of the time. At night it's plugged into 110 at my home, then gets loaded into the truck and runs on 12v while transporting it to job sites where it returns to 110v. At the end of the day, back into the truck and then to the house. It's an easy 2 person lift when fully loaded. We even took it with us camping and ramped up the temp to 38 degrees to use as a fridge. I also bought the insulated jacket which helps it maintain those very low temps in the blazing summer sun. Very happy with the performance. Highly recommended!
This is our second freezer, after mistakenly selling the first one after two years of use thinking we found a better option. We quickly purchased our current unit in 2014 and have used daily since. We travel full-time in our RV and this freezer has been to 48 states and 5 Canadian provinces. It is an excellent unit, and we highly recommend it to anyone.
Got this ac/dc freezer for our yacht. Put it in the travel case. 1 year later I'm trying to save the lid as it is starting to rust. Now, i need a new lid as it has all rusted out on the outside corners and on the lid. Too Bad... Really like it but hate to replace something that is internally working great because the case can't stand up.
