I needed it to make cheese straws. It was great to use and lots of patterns to make cookies with. I give this excellent rating.
I am just waiting for my first batch of Christmas cookies to get done, and thought to write this review. For the price-- I LOVE IT! Unlike it's more expensive deluxe version, the plastic casing on this model seems sturdier. Where others say it has cracked on them-- it's because the dough was too stiff or they overfilled it. This thing isn't much different than a playdough toy actually. Where on the other models, you have to excuse the kids from the kitchen (so you can mutter some swear words out of sheer frustration), this model has single-click output, where you might have to double-click to get the air pockets out-- but that's it. Keep the dough chilled just enough that it doesn't stick to the press, and you'll love it too!
I purchased this cookie press to make good old fashioned spritz cookies like my grandma used to make. This is my first press and it is wonderful. Setup and cleanup is so easy as well as usage. I don't have a bad thing to say!!
I did not realize you needed to be familiar with a caulking gun to operate. I could not get the hand trigger to work. After several attempts, I turned the metal rod so the "teeth" were down, and it worked perfectly. The cookies turned out perfectly & the recipe on the box is very good.
dont want to spend the time rolling dough and cutting them? Use this. It makes very cute cookies but I do have to warn you, only use cookies that are almost dough like. Never Ever try it with sugar cookie dough :( not a good reaction. Have fun. :)
I was worried about the many negative reviews for this product, but it was what I could afford this year and boy am I glad I bought it. I don't understand the complaints, because this cookie press worked awesome for me. I whipped out dozens of cookies in minutes and the only part I semi-struggled with (and this was likely my inexperience showing) was filling the tube with dough. I used the recipe on the package (with a bit more flavoring added) and it worked like a dream. I can't speak to how long it will last since I just now used it for the first time, but I have zero complaints thus far.
This product is made out of plastic and broke in several places after only using it five times. Very disappointed in the quality.
I was surprised the product didn't come with any instructions in the box. Of course, having handled a cookie press before, I didn't need them, but this seems to be a beginner's press and some simple instructions wouldn't have hurt. The press itself is made of a very cheap plastic that is easy to clean and lightweight. The discs fit well in the nozzle and produced the cookies as they should. The bottom of the press is NOT a non-skid bottom, so great care must be taken to keep a steady hand or you'll end up with deformed cookies in your pan. Now, the reason I give this press such a low review is because it will only hold out for a few uses before the plastic cracks. I use spritz dough only, which is the recommended dough to use with a press of any kind. After about 7 or 8 uses, the plastic near the handle at the top cracked wide open from forcing the cookie dough through the press and rendered it completely useless. Remember when using a cookie press, regardless of brand or size, never use a dough that contains nuts, chocolate chips, raisins, etc. Presses are designed for smooth doughs only and will clog or break on occasion when presented with chunky dough.
Followed the recipe for making the cookies on the direction sheet , followed the directions on loading the machine and using it and it made about 3 cookies before it just clogs up and doesn't work. This machine just makes a mess of everything. I ended up rolling the dough out and cutting the shapes out by hand. Just buy a rolling pin and some cookie cutout shapes. Save yourself alot of hassle.
I bought this last year to do our christmas baking, it didn't even make it through the first batch before it broke. Had to finish with my antique press, very dissapointed.
