I used this amplifier with a 70 mile range antenna that was receiving a channel 60 miles away but with a poor or low signal (we couldn't watch it). As soon as I put the amplifier, I got the channel perfectly!
Amplifier worked as stated. Went from 7 weak channels to 21 strong ones.
We had been experiencing problems with intermittent signal problems for over a month. We were able to watch over the air TV and then it would go out with no signal on any channels we received. Once we replaced the booster up on the roof and inside the house, we now have TV viewing with no signal loss and very good reception. Shipping was fast and we would definitely order from this company again.
Reception is a lot more stable and it delivers the same reception to more than one tv set.
This product worked great for me. I am deep in the country and are closest neighbor is a ground hog over the next hill. You get the picture I am using a Winegard antenna it was rated for 30 miles. The closest TV tower is about 70 miles away. I was able to pick it up but at only certain times during the day. I added the Winegard boost and the amplifier that comes with it. The TV single picked up by 20%. So now I can enjoy TV all day. Please remember that this worked out for me in my terrain condition. So study your terrain and conditions to see if it well work for you. For me it was will worth the money.
Pros..Went from 7 channels to 28. (without turning the antenna) Con..Had to take the antenna down to install amplifier. Well worth the trouble
Have been using Winegard stuff since the early 70's. (I was a TV repair man in a former life) Seems to have good gain and Not subject to signal overload. You may need to purchase a 300 ohm / Flat wire to 75 ohm round Impedance matching transformer. (about $5) Try to mount the Pre-amp (black box) as close to the antenna elements as possible within 1 - 2 feet. The "white box" is the power supply for the pre-amp. The DC power and TV signal share the same wire. So there can be NO splitters, combiners or other amps between the power supply and the pre-amp. (black box) All splitting and such is done After the Power supply. (white box) The power supply is NOT rated for outdoor use. So protect it from the Rain and such. Winegard is to TV antennas is as FORD is to Pickup trucks.
I use this UHF/VHF amp for UHF only, it cleared up most all stations that were normally breaking up and freezing on a regular basis. I live in a very bad signal area!
Most stations didn't change, but the ones that did improved a lot, according to the signal strength meter on the TV. Definitely not what I was hoping for, but I kept it figuring it was the most improvement of all the combinations of antennas and amplifiers I tried.
I installed this amplifier on my antenna and when I plugged it into power, the signal went down 50%. The channels I was getting with a week signal went totally away. It may work for some people but not for me.
