I ordered these shoes after a long and disappointing search for barefoot/minimalist shoes that are comfortable at the first wear and do not contain any neoprene (which ends up smelling absolutely disgusting after a few months of wear). A lot of barefoot/minimalist shoes also widen considerably in the toe area, which can look unappealing for people with narrow feet. These shoes are comfortable, have a very thin and breathable upper leather, and they look cuter than they appear online (even on a person with narrow feet). I have only worn this shoe for two weeks, so I cannot comment on how durable the design is, but so far everything has been holding up great!
I'm a big fan of Merrell "Barefoot" shoes because i have a narrow foot and they always fit. I have had several pairs of the "Barefoot" shoes and wear them hiking and backpacking and they hold up well. This leather pair feels a little wider than my other pairs so i will need to wear a sock but they have a nice soft yummy feel on bare feet. i like the look and plan to wear them as a more casual shoe but could certainly wear them as light trail shoes as well. I don't think they were designed for serious backcountry hiking. I'll wear my Trail Glove 4 for backcountry. Even better would be a waterproof Trail Glove with serious tread. Thank you Merrell...you are my "first go to" brand whenever i am looking for shoes.
I bought Merrell Vapor Glove 3 Luna in black. Since I put them on I haven't used any of my other shoes. They are simply just perfect! I used a waterproofing spray one time and they are 100 % waterproof even though the materials are very thin. I'm surprised of how good they protect me from cold weather but they aren't exactly winter shoes. They are the most flexible shoe I have seen. As thin as they can be without being uncomfortable. Overall the best shoe I have ever owned.
I put these lightweight guys on my feet and didn't want to take them off! Like I wasn't wearing any shoes! I ordered a half size larger like I usually do withsneakers, but I may order my regular shoe size next time (because I want another pair of these!) as they are slightly long. I don't usually wear the thin soled barefoot shoes and felt the tree roots and rocks. But I think you must learn to move over them lighter.
Have an ancient pair of glove Merrells which I wanted to replace. These are a little roomier in the toe than the old ones, but that isn't a bad thing. I never mail order shoes but since I have been wearing Merrell's for years I was fairly confident doing so this time. Wish you had a few more colors though.
omg - I love, love, love these shoes. Incredibly comfortable. And I'm one of those people who has trouble finding shoes that feel comfortable. I'm getting more of these in every color I can find.
They advertised they feel like going barefoot. This turned out to be true! So much so that I miss the arch support and cushy soles that have kept me in Merrells for decades. I still like the shoe - just can't wear them all day. Retired School Teacher
These shoes look good and the leather definitely adds a layer of protection against cold and wet, but it also makes the shoes stiffer, harder to get on and less comfortable. I'm hoping they will get more comfortable as they age.
I purchased a pair of these shoes about a month ago. From the moment I put my foot in them I loved them. Then.....sadly after wearing them only 3 times, the eyelet broke loose where they lace up. I contacted Merrell and told them the problem and they asked me to try to resolve the issue where I purchased the shoes. I did just that. Went back to the store of purchase and they replaced them for me. Once again, when I had worn them 3 times, the eyelet broke loose again. Please, Merrell, put some sort of eyelet on these shoes. I love these shoes so much that I am going to take them to a cobbler to see if they can put eyelets in for me, or at least holes to lace them. If they can't, then sadly I will take them back again.
Looks nice, I like the leather and color, but the shoe was uncomfortable on my feet. The stitching that holds the tongue in rubs uncomfortably. I shouldn't buy shoes on line, fit is too important.
