White, trumpet-type flowers that are 1 inch across and boast red and white striping on the backs of the petals. Buds also display the red and white striping effect, hence the common name 'Candy Cane.' Attractive plants are compact with short, round, green foliage and bloom for up to six weeks. Also known as Wood Sorrel or Shamrock, many of these bulbous plants have leaves divided into three segments like clover. However, in some species the leaves may be more finely divided. Flowers are five-petaled and open flat to greet the sun. A beautiful plant for the rock garden or those hard-to-fit nooks and crannies.
