I used this as engine heat when it was -30. I didnt have a block heater. The cord was long enough and it worked perfectly.
The light bulb cord is very good for mechanical works at night. Some of the flashlights wear out quickly and with this cable I am not worried about it.

This trouble light still has an electrical outlet in the handle, while most light duty units do not. The cable is just 18ga so it would be easy to overload it. If you use it as it was it was made to be used, as a light, It should work well for you.
Light is handy for the garage. The light switch has changed. Can buy cheaper on ebay.
