I was hesitant about purchasing the XBox One S because of all the negative things I heard from some of my friends. I have a 4K TV and was wanting to watch UHD Blu-Rays I received as gifts. The price of a UHD Blu-Ray player is well over $100. I decided to purchase the XBox One S as a dedicated UHD Blu-Ray player to use in my living room entertainment system, because it was only a little over $200 and it's rated as an excellent UHD 4K player. Turns out my friends are biased to Sony, which is fine but they would not even consider giving the XBox a chance. The XBox takes a while to set up once you first begin to use it, but that is my only complaint. I have a PS4 and love it but find myself, not only watching 4K content on my XBox, but playing games on it as much as the PS4. It is definitely a different system than Sony's, but that doesn't mean it's bad. My online gameplay has introduced me to new friends and I've even convinced a couple of my long time friends to give it a try... one of them even went out and bought one for theirself. This is not a bad product! Hardcore gamers tend to be biased, even in favor of the XBox, but from a neutral standpoint... this is truly an exceptional, versatile product that will allow you to get the best out of your audio/video equipment, especially if you have a 4K TV. I give it a BIG 5 STARS!!
This was an online purchase as a birthday gift. The Xbox one S is amazing. Plays 4K Blu-ray's, streams in 4K, and plays Microsoft's great games like Halo and Forza Horizon 3. This is a must buy if you don't own an Xbox 1 yet
This is our second Xbox One S system. I got the Halo bundle for my 50th birthday, but ended up passing that one on to my son. This one is for my man cave downstairs, and I like the grey color much better than the white my first console came in. It matches the television and surround sound system much better in grey. Games work well, Love the instant on mode, turn it on and your game is already waiting and ready to go. Apps work well, the 4k streaming with HDR is a nice step up from the standard Xbox one, once I upgraded to a newer TV. The only real shortcoming is the small hard drive size. 500 Gigabytes will only hold 8 to 10 of the newer games, so the addition of an external hard drive will be the next upgrade in store. Overall, I love my console and would recommend it to anyone.
Long story short, I ordered this Xbox One S from Walmart specially because of the storm grey that only Walmart carries! When I ordered it after Christmas, fedex lost it in transit, I contacted Walmart and they had one delivered next day air! Walmart really does care about their customers.
Bought one for me and my girlfriend it's great! I'd get a external hard rice for t though you can only get like 9 games before it's full
Bought this as a Christmas present for the kids, but couldn't wait until then. So when they were over at the grandparent's for the night the wife and I broke it out. The grey looks way better than the white. Great product.
Purchase online was smooth and was a awesome deal! The system itself is awesome sleek and storm grey is a nice color the controller is easily the best besides the elite or gears edition. Pickup at store I waited about 5 mins and I was on my way simple and fast and awesome! Battlefield 1 was a disappointment for me, #1 horribly long loading times, seriously. It takes over a a 1 1/2 mins to "load" the screen to customize your character load out. loading into a match is anywhere between 2-5mins. Once you leave the Match and quit to go back to main menu it seems infinite. I've left it on for 8 mins and it still says loading. boring gameplay camp fest. I do wish that battlefield was a legit disc copy so I could trade it in lol not to mention it's over 50gigs to download.
The size is the only real change. If you care for it go ahed and make the change. Everything else is pretty much the same. I have a 4K TV and if I set my new Xbox One S to 4K the games looks worst than with my old Xbox One. So I had to live it at 1080P.
I've been a PlayStation user all my life and was pulled into the XBox arena through friends who didn't have a PS. The console is small and compact. The controller feels better than the PS and the game flow smoothness is outstanding. I'm a sports gamer and there's nothing worse than your hands getting sweaty and being unable to hold the controller. With the XBox controller you always have a grip on the controller and your game. It's always nice to have a back up console when you can't get the same games. I'm excited to have finally been pulled to the other side, thank you XBox!
If you are the owner of a 2016 Vizio M series 4K HDR display and are looking to use the XBOX One S as your HDR disc player, think twice. The XB1S is not 100% compatible with your display. The picture looks great but there is a problem with the signal cutting in and out to a black screen with no sound. Sometimes for a second or two, other times for up to 15 seconds. VIZIO is aware of the situation but has no solution or firmware update to fix the problem. Microsoft has no solution as well. So bottom line is, if you are looking for a HDR disk player and are convinced as I was that the the XB1S is your best bang for the buck, it is not. You are better off buying a more expensive, stand alone HDR player that doesn't constantly switch back and forth between resolutions. Hope this was helpful and saved you the stress that I experienced.
