Got the right home entertainment system!! Not only you can play games on it but also turn it into your own cable box and play your favorite music. I love how it turns my TV and stereo on/off without using my remotes with the built-in IR blaster. I can play my Xbox 360 games as well. I'm sure it can do more but I'm still learning more about it. Oh and it's nice having a blue- ray player back too!! :-). Very happy!!!
The xb1 s is a beast machine. It's smaller, sleeker, a 4k monster, has great storage and it doesn't have the annoying power brick. The hdr and 4k capabilities are awesome. The setup for 4k & hdr was a breeze and the quality is amazing. There is nothing but positive feedback on this device. I honestly can't say one bad thing about. I'd you want 4k & hdr buy don't want to wait for the scorpio then get the xb1 s :)
I'm not one to order online but I just couldn't pass up this deal!!! Ordering and checkout was SUPER easy and quick! The order arrived TWO DAYS BEFORE it was scheduled to and that was during the holiday season!! I'm very impressed
I've always had a preference for PlayStation - never owned Xbox. But really liked what Microsoft did with the S. Did not disappoint. I don't have a 4k tv, but games still looks amazing. Make sure to get a least 1TB of storage, worth the money.
I've only had it for a week or two but its a definite upgrade from the 360. It does take a while for the games to download onto the system so don't expect to plug it in and get right to playing.
The new Xbox one S is substantially smaller than the original and it does not have that big external power brick, which means it takes up much less room on your shelf. Gears of War 4 is awesome. The online game play is much like that of Gears 3, with a few new game styles and some cool new weapons. Would highly recommend.
I orginally concidered the 500 gig model, but felt the extra space was warranted. The 4k system was easily installed.
The game is a download which is fine but isnt clearly stated with the purchase. Also to play the game (even campaign mode) you have to activate a gold membership. The game comes with a 14day trial but you have to give it something like 24-48hrs before the system recognizes you have it to actually play the campaign. Everything else about this is great.
First and foremost. This device is being heavily sold and promoted as a 4K UHD Bluray and streaming device (as well as gaming console). The 4K UHD Bluray playback is crippled on the audio front unless you opt in to an unstable beta of the software that sometimes works. Amazon Streaming is still not true 4k streaming on the Xbox One S. 4K UHD Bluray: Out of the box, the device claims to support Dlby TruHD and DTS:HD MA via internal decoding and then Multichannel PCM. This is false. It has been proven that it is impossible to get a True, unaltered HD audio stream out of the Xbox One series of consoles even via PCM. Further it has been proven that it actively damages HD audio as anything sampled at 96khz or higher is downsampled to 48khz. This right here is a major failing. Further the 4K UHD Spec states a player must be able to decode Immersive Audio formats and supply outputs to at least 2 height outputs or supply bitstream support which the Xbox One S is unable to provide out of the box. Out of the box, the player for 4K UHD Blurays has audio support worse than a normal Bluray player and does not meet the requirements to be 4k UHD Bluray player. Both mentioned issues can be corrected by downloading the insider preview app, select to opt-in to the Xbox One Console Update Preview which once installed will have the bitstream option that has been missing from the X1 line). However, this beta software is buggy and slow at times not even playing video that plays when the bitstream option is disabled. A further issue is that the drive tends to get noisy with 4k and some 3D discs. Many videos will have stutters during playback, and/or audio dropouts (search AVSForums for the X1S). Amazon Streaming: Xbox One S will output to the TV at 3840x2160/60p HDR, but the picture quality is very soft compared to the Amazon app doing true 4k streaming on other devices instead appearing to be upscaled 1080p content (further reinforced by the app's own statement it is putting out 1080). Pressing 'Y' during playback shows the Amazon App states it is showing 'HD 1080p'. The same videos played via the Amazon App on a Samsung TV and Roku 4 both show marked increases in quality, being extremely sharper visually with a quality level expected from 4k. The Amazon app on both of these devices displays 'HDR Ultra HD'. Notice the difference in playback rating: X1S: 'HD 1080p' TV: 'HDR Ultra HD' The advantage this device has is of course the price and being gaming console as essentially a freebie.
It turned out to me a bad system once i tried to set up the system i even called microsoft first and they told me the system was bad fo ahead and return i wish they would of just exchanged it for another one but they had to return my money instead
