Bought these for my grandson to use for his drum lessons. I'm enjoying playing them and learning too.
The DD65 is not just for beginners. This affordable unit is very useful even for well-seasoned players. Very easy to transport, set up, and use at rehearsals, jams, or other gigs. It feels like a pretty solid unit. Good design, solid pads, plenty of sounds and song styles to play. Take the time to read the manual, learn the settings, and play it! Granted, the built-in speakers don't do it justice. Use headphones or a monitor system to hear the full effect. (The Walmart package included the power supply and headphones.) It really does sound good. Watching videos on YouTube can be helpful. I watched some videos before purchasing only to discover this was the unit I had been waiting for.
This was a great gift for my 10 year old son and a great hit for the family during the Christmas Holiday season. This is an excellent choice for all!

Purchasing through Walmart.com was easy and the drum set arrived a day ahead of schedule. The set was as advertised and is fun for the whole family.
Good quality and sound through a drum amp. Not to thrilled with the pedals tho, will have to get some electronic bass and hi hat pedals . With 40+ yrs experience ,I wanted something to play smaller gigs with and once I do the upgrades ,it will b good.
Purchased for our daughter for christmas. She wanted a full drum kit but fell in love with this product right away. She hasn't stopped playing it all day. The option to plug in an iPod was a real hit.

I cannot play an acoustic set or the typical electronic set due to shoulder problems. I cannot get my arms up to reach the cymbals on either set. This little unit allows me to still enjoy playing a set but because all pads are within my reach. The cymbals are not what I expected but the snare is adequate and the toms are terrific. This unit has some nifty features and allows me to play along with the built in drums sounds or solo. My grandchildren ae having fun with it as well. The set comes complete with foot controls for high hat and bass, ear phones and sticks. The instruction manual is very helpful. I would recommend this to someone for a practice set or to keep playing in an apartment.
I had tried one out before purchasing, so I knew what I was getting. I was a little upset because the picture advertising the Yamaha DD 65 had a DC power convertor, but was not in the package when it arrived (nor was there room for it in the box).
