I purchased this electronic drum pad set for my 12 year old son. He seems interested in drums so I thought this set would be a good place to start. This kit comes with drum sticks. The stand, chair, and foot pedal are not included. I purchased the foot pedal separately because there are some drums that only work with it. It features a nice big speaker in built in. There are also input and output jacks on the back for versatility. The drum pads must be struck close to the center for maximum volume. The volume tapers off as your hits wonder off to the edges. This drum pad can be placed on a standard 9in snare drum stand. If my son takes to this, I would definitely consider a real drum set. This Yamaha is not the only drum set you will need, it is a starting point.
I bought this for my granddaughter for Christmas. She is 9 years old and she loves it. It sounds great. My 42 yr. old son, her father loves it also. I highly recommend this product. The only thing I am disappointed in is that it went on sale after I bought it.
Son loves portable digital drum. He can play downstairs, upstairs or in his room. He likes the animal sounds and being able to plug his ipod in and play along.
My 8yr old son received the drum set for Christmas and he and my 14 yr old son loves it! It's easy to use and you can take it anywhere!
Bought this for my 6 year old son and he loves it. We connect the iPod to it and he gets to play along to his fav music. Good for the price.
Bought this item for a 14 year old boy who has never owned a drum set but really wants one. I thought this item would satisfy his craving for the drums and let me determine if this was going to be just another "I really want a __" (fill in the blank) thing. "He lost interest in piano and guitar lessons so I didnt want to incur the expense of buying a complete drum set just to see it collect dust after a month or so. Turns out he is not using this item because its not the real feel of a sit down spread apart set. It may be great for someone who already owns a drum set and wants something cool and portable to play around with on the go. It comes with sticks but no bass foot pedal. Bottom line its a good product just not for my kid at this time.
All my kids love it age 2-8. And yes if comes with a spot to plug in your own earphones.
