So far, pretty good. The white rice, which I have not normally eaten, was fantastic; the grains did not glom on to each other and the taste was really eye-opening. The brown rice, by comparison, sticks together. together. I guess I need to experiment somehow, though there seems no avenue for that other than adding or decreasing water. It's a mystery. I am making good use of the oatmeal setting. The user manual needs a professional touch. It's too all-over-the-place. If there were a professionally prepared Zojirushi cookbook, that too might be a big plus. As it is, I probably won't use most of the options.
We had a Zojirushi induction rice cooker that worked flawlessly for almost 20 years. Finally, the battery needed replacing, and even though the cooker was still working, we decided to upgrade and treat ourselves to the pressure induction cooker. I wondered if we would notice a difference, and yes we did! The grains of rice are slightly plumper, a little more chewy, and absolutely more delicious. We also like the increased options for Thai rice, steel cut oats, etc. So nice to put the oats to cook the night before and have hot, delicious oatmeal ready the next morning. I highly recommend this model. It is well worth the price.
We had the same cooker before and this one was a replacement, after the power surge "burned" the cooker. So, obviously we like this one, with heavy inner pot and Umami setting. The only additional settings I would like are "steam" and "scorch", instead of oatmeal and congee.
I've had this rice cooker for about two weeks now. I've used it probably every day except for two or three. It's been a huge eye opener for my family and I. It takes a little longer to cook rice than I had hoped on the regular setting, but that is not a hinderance at all to us. It gives an accurate timer on when the rice will be done, so I just plan accordingly. Additionally, the timer function would be perfect for those who need to set it and forget it. The keep warm function is amazing. The rice stays moist and just as perfectly cooked and delicious as when it was first cooked. The cooked rice in this machine is so much higher quality than that of my cheapo Aroma machine that I had for years prior. Absolutely top of the line rice cooker and absolutely worth every penny I spent on it. Not an ounce of buyers remorse. Top notch quality for both craftsmanship as well as the cooked rice it produces. I would recommend hands down over and over to anyone and everyone who is debating on investing in this purchase.
This rice cooker is a game changer! So easy to use and I'm able to cook rice a bag at a time…….if that's what you need - it's perfect rice every time!! Totally recommend it!!
Worth Every Penny. I live in small remote Oregon mountain town on Idaho border. Having lived in Asia for many years I know how much properly cooked rice adds to a healthy diet and enjoyment. In my effort to make sushi using brown rice, I wondered if the pressure feature would help. It made a significant difference. Now I get great rice, nori, kombu, mirin, and rice vinegar by mail, and this fabulous rice cooker makes perfect rice each time. I clean the unit after each use, which takes about 30 seconds.
I make rice a lot, love to make our in batches and freeze for later. A rice cooker is a must for me. I've not had the chance to try all functions yet just sweet/sushi rice and it comes out nice and holds together, easy to pick up with fork or chopsticks. It freezes well and retains texture after defrosting.
Makes perfect rice just like people say it does. Was easy to use. I only made white rice so far, but it turned out just as good as what you would get at any Chinese or Japanese restaurant.
I absolutely love my AI rice cooker which takes the guess work out of cooking the perfect rice which I eat everyday! I've been using a pressure cooker prior to purchasing this product and I can really taste the difference...the rice is sweeter and fluffier and more tasty with the perfect texture. I also love the one button settings for oatmeal, mixed rice, brown rice, jasmin & congee. Also, it starts and ends with a Twinkle Little Star tune...so cute!
Pros: The rice quality is very good. There was day that I left the rice in there for 48 hours and it's still soft. It takes about an hour to cook the rice. Although the inner lining is Platinum, it could still easy be scratched, so I have to be careful anyway. Con: closing of the lid is a little hard. My kids complained that its not easy to close the lid.
