Johansson's Global Marketing, 4/e utilizes a three-pronged framework to organize the discussion of how to conduct global business: foreign entry, local marketing, and global management. Johansson seeks to develop the varied skills a marketing manager needs to be successful in each of these tasks. The discussion progresses from how to market an existing product outside of the domestic market to how to develop a new product for specific local markets and then broadens the scope to discuss marketing and management topics from a global managerial perspective. Legal, regulatory, political, and cultural, issues are discussed as appropriate throughout the text. Excellent examples and cases, many of which are drawn from the author's rich international experience, help students move from concept to application. Most international marketing books have 6-7 separate chapters up front that discuss the legal and regulatory, political, and cultural environments before they begin to discuss global market entry. Johansson presumes that the students have a basic appreciation of these environments and begins the market entry discussion after 3 introductory chapters. text is used both as the first course in the undergraduate level and in MBA level courses.

Johansson?s Global Marketing, 5/e utilizes a three-pronged framework to organize the discussion of how to conduct global business: Foreign Entry, Local Marketing, and Global Management. Johansson seeks to develop the varied skills a marketing manager needs to be successful in each of these tasks. In foreign entry, in global management, and to a large extent even as a local marketer in a foreign country, the global marketer needs skills that the home makes experience-or the standard marketing text-have rarely taught. The recognition of the three roles helps dispel the notion that ?there is no such thing as international global marketing, only marketing. Much of the excellent research and tried-and-true teaching material that global marketers in business and academe have contributed over the years is reflected in the chapters and in several cases that can be found at the end of each major section. The authors have focused on material that is timely and up-to-date, and relevant to the global context.

Accessories such as CD, codes, toys, may not be included. Fair trade is a fast-growing alternative market intended to bring better prices and greater social justice to small farmers around the world. But is it working? This vivid study of coffee farmers in Mexico offers the first thorough investigation of the social, economic, and environmental benefits of fair trade. Based on extensive research in Zapotec indigenous communities in the state of Oaxaca, Brewing Justice follows the members of the cooperative Michiza, whose organic coffee is sold on the international fair trade market. It compares these families to conventional farming families in the same region, who depend on local middlemen and are vulnerable to the fluctuations of the world coffee market. Written in a clear and accessible style, the book carries readers into the lives of these coffee producer households and their communities, offering a nuanced analysis of both the effects of fair trade on everyday life and the limits of its impact. Brewing Justice paints a clear picture of the complex dynamics of the fair trade market and its relationship to the global economy. Drawing on interviews with dozens of fair trade leaders, the book also explores the changing politics of this international movement, including the challenges posed by the entry of transnational corporations into the fair trade system. It concludes by offering recommendations for strengthening and protecting the integrity of fair trade.

It prepares exporters to take advantage of political shifts in Eastern Europe and Russia, the opening up of China, changes in the European Union and the MERCOSUR trade bloc in Latin America, and many other global issues that have created exploitable opportunities. And it serves as a valuable reference to the completely restructured export support programs - covering both financing and marketing - that are available from the public and private sectors. Readers will find necessary information on the International Chamber of Commerce's completely revamped rules and practices on letters of credit and electronic data interchange (EDI) developments. The Harmonized Description and Coding System for exports and imports is thoroughly explained, with an explanation of its impact on market research and international trade statistics. Especially welcome is this book's extensive coverage of current sources of government help, including financing, from the Export-Import Bank to the International Trade Administration of the Department of Commerce to AID, SBA, OPIC, and other government agencies, all of which have undergone major changes.

Arabic erotic literature has a long and rich history, which goes back as far as the ninth century. Far from being the pursuit of prurient pornographers, eroticism and sexuality received considerable attention from scholars. Written by Nasir al-Din al-Tusi (1201--1274), one of the leading scientists of the age, The Sultan's Sex Potions is part of a group of works devoted to aphrodisiacs as well as sexual stimulants, sexual practices, and positions. Sober and measured in tone, the work was intended to be a manual that would allow the patient to dispense with the services of a physician. Written at the request of the ruler, its potions, electuaries, syrups, and enemas enjoyed a "royal warrant of appointment" to arouse the lust for coitus and enhance sexual potency. This volume includes a critical edition of three manuscripts (Berlin, Cairo, and Glasgow) and is accompanied by a translation, as well as an introduction to Arabic erotic literature, a biography of the author, and extensive indexes. A Persian polymath and prolific writer, Nasir al-Din al-Tusi (1201--1274) built up a large body of work ranging across a number of disciplines including mathematics, geometry, mineralogy, astronomy, medicine, philosophy, and theology. The Muslim scholar Ibn Khaldun (1332--1406) considered al-Tusi to be the greatest of the later Persian scholars. Daniel L. Newman is head of the Arabic Studies department, professor of Arabic, and course director of the MA in Arabic--English Translation and Interpreting at the University of Durham, England.
